Wallpaper has been out for a time now, but "THEY" say it is coming back in.

We bought this house in 1994, and I papered the master bedroom and bath, and I still love those rooms as much as I did the day they were done. They still look like new and I have no plans to change it.

At the same time, we papered the guest bath and it looks brand new as well. I don't mind the pattern or colors we chose in there either, and am fine with it.

We also papered the kitchen and dining room, but those two are driving me nuts. I've outgrown the style of the paper, but way more frustrating is that it has been loosening at the seams, and nothing I do will put it back down. I need a complete kitchen overhaul, but can't afford it. I've considered stripping the paper and at least painting in those two rooms, but I just can't get up the gumption to get it done. I'm afraid I'll have a big mess on my hands and be overwhelmed, just to have to do it again later when we can redo the kitchen. But honestly it looks so bad, I don't know how much longer I can stand it!

The living room, two bedrooms and hallway as well as the family room did not get papered. I like to have some paper in the house, but not the whole house.

I'm thinking about having a couple rooms wallpapered. Is it back in style, did it ever go out of style? Anyone out there have any thoughts? Like or not like?

I have had had wallpaper in every home I have ever lived in. I can tell you that it is super expensive. My DH hangs it like a pro, so I have never had to pay for installation.

Currently, all of it has been removed by me personally. ... not a fun job. I like it in the powder rooms and bathrooms. It is easier to keep the walls clean.

You might try hanging paper on an accent wall. I have not seen the whole room with all four walls papered in years.

I love wallpaper. I used to do all of my own wallpapering and wallpapering for friends.

After we had a house fire, we decided to have paper put on all of the walls I'd papered (needed new wallboard).

I picked it out and the insurance company had someone come in a put it up wherever I wanted it.

If you are going to be selling you house soon, you probably shouldn't do it as it is a very personal thing (lots of people don't like it or like specific paper).

I will probably have some of it removed and painted (mainly my large bedroom) because it isn't something most people would like.

When you sell a house you are supposed to have it be very generic (not a lot of pictures, etc) around. The theory is people are supposed to be able to envision themselves living there.

We used to own a lot of houses. When we decided to sell them, my husband and his partner would 'stage' the houses with different furniture, etc.

Who cares if it's in or out. If it's your house and you like it, put it in. Just be aware that some people get sick or tired of looking at it all of the time.

True story: My late husband would go on a trip and come home and a room would be wallpapered. People would say, "You really like wallpaper". He'd laugh and say, "Not really! And now you know how much say I have in this house". Ha! He actually didn't care what I did with the house.

I remember probably a year or more after the TV room boarder had been done (entire room near ceiling about 4 or so inches thick) and he'd sat in it every night watching TV, one night he says, "When did you put up this boarder"? I said almost 2 years ago! Ha!

For whatever the reason, I like wallpaper in a bathroom and possibly an entry hall-that's about it. .In my former home, purchased new and used by the builder as a model temporarily, the realtor had most of the rooms on the first floor papered. Immediately had the builder remove the dark floral paper from the very large kitchen. The builder nearly had a fit, as the paper and the labor to hang it cost a bundle. Hideously ugly. Kept the paper in both the half baths. removed the paper above the dining room chair rail for paint ,kept it below as it was quite neutral.

In my present home the only room I papered is the hall bath, which I fully renovated and was used daily by my sons. I still love that faux leather wallpaper. Expensive but worth it and totally doable in a smaller space. The paper did not have a defined repeat pattern so there was little waste which helped. Never got around to papering the half bath and won't bother now as I will move sometime in the not too distant future.

Back in the very late 80s I was looking for house and went to about 20 open houses. Many were 2 stories and every room + the walls around the stairs were papered. I ruled those out completely as I didn't want the task of taking it all down.

But wallpaper was very "in" at that time and even my friend papered nearly every wall in their 2 story house.

I don't hate wallpaper but I'd only put it up in a hallway or bathroom.

Love wallpaper! Always have, always will! I know styles for home dressing goes in and out just like styles for our dressing, but I feel --- your home is your castle, your refuge --- if you enjoy it--- then go for it!

I had a recent issue of Martha Stewart's magazine and there was an article about wallpaper and this kind that is supposedly much easier to remove when you do decide to remove it.

Any how, I have wallpaper in my kitchen and bathroom. I think it adds so much warmth and color. So many people have commented on both patterns and say --- I never really cared for paper, but it looks so cozy and pretty!

I would love to have it in my bedroom as well. I do not paper, never learned how. So, I would have find the perfect pattern and find the perfect person to do it.

I say --- go ahead!!!!

@Annabellethecat66 I got such a chuckle out of your post. So much of what you said reminds me of myself and my dh. One day my dh came home from work and I had repainted his bathroom and had put everything back where it was. All he said was "but I liked the other color." He give me carte blanche to do what I want to the house. Love him for that. I used to love wall paper, too, especially when the manufacturers came out with strippable.
