I make my own solution for cleaning the tub, tile and shower door to remove hard water residue. I also use it instead of vinegar in my coffee maker. On occasion I use plain lemonade Kool-Aid powder, which contains citric acid, on the sides of the toilet where the hard-water ring starts forming. The Kool-Aid is a fine powder so it sticks to the walls of the bowl very nicely. Once in a while I'll toss a tablespoon of the CA in the dishwasher to clean it.

fyi: citric acid is not a disinfectant

Is there anything in particular you are cleaning? Or just an overall cleaner?

I use an organic cleaner and loofahs.

I've used baking soda or salt also to clean pans before dishwashing and also the kitchen sink.

Haven't used vinegar--afraid of what it might do to the granite. Same would go for citric acid.

Marble, otoh, is not at all resistant to acid.

When I lived in West Texas, the water was so bad we had to add powdered citric acid to every dishwasher load. It dissolves calcium deposits like vinegar does but that all it's good for. Has no cleaning properties. All my glasses got so etched, they looked like milk glass. When I moved I put them all in a dumpster.
