Topiaries...anyone else not 'get it'?

These are just something in home decor I've never cared much for, and have only ever had one, that was a rather convoluted version of the original type.

Occasionally I see one for holiday time that looks ok, but overall these aren't something I 'get'!

Anyone else not a fan of topiaries? Anyone like them and care to share why or pictures of pretty ones you have?

I'm impressed by real live topiaries, they must take a lot of work. But fake topiaries, like those sold on Q, don't do anything for me.

My husband bought me the sweetest bear topiary, covered in English Ivy.

However, when I killed it, I felt like an adorable bear murderer. 🐻☹️

I enjoy the real ones at Walt Disney World in character shapes! Haven't been there in a long time, I wonder if they do still have some around?

I've seen real topiaries in people's yards, too. But nothing fake inside homes. Too much work to keep the living ones shaped like poodle balls, twists, etc., and not enough patience.

I enjoy large landscape topiaries outside office buildings and restaurants but that is it. I don't understand the single small one outside a house unless it is worked into the surrounding landscape. Many look like they were just dropped in the ground withoutand thought. Just not my style.

I was going to say the same thing about professional landscapes and those at Disney.

Very cool and very artistic.

For my own personal domain? Not so much.

I currently do not have any topiaries on display so I have no photos to share of my own. I am wanting a couple for Spring and Summer use on the mantel, though. Here are some photos I found on Pinterest that I like, and they contain various topiaries.

20-25 years ago I had a couple that I made from faux ivy. I liked them for a while, they were pretty, but I grew tired of them and like everything else, donated them.

I'll see your topiaries and raise you cloches, birdcages, empty vases, lanterns, et al. None of it makes sense to me.

We use paintings, photography, metal sculptures, crystal pieces and floral arrangements.

If you are talking about fake/faux topiaries, I agree. But then, I don't like anything fake in my decor.

I love the fresh herb or ivy topiaries, and used a lot of them in my house over the years. The only one that I still have is rosemary topiary in my kitchen.

Here is a photo of it - I tried to make it look more "vintage", and to hang it on the wall, it didn't make to print yet

I prefer Bonzai over topiary. Bonzai keeps the natural shape of the tree rather than shaping it onto something else.
