Something simple and easy

Campground is having a picnic today and everyone is assigned a dish to bring. Mine was a dessert.I did not want to heat up the camper baking anything because we are having AC problems so i had to think of something else. There is a fabulous candy store in town where they sell candy in bulk so i went and picked out several pretty choices, jordan almonds,peanut butter cups, choc covered nuts and choc covered raisins, and some fancy seashell shaped chocolates. I came home and arranged them on a pretty seashell plate.This way people can garb as many as they like, and have a sampling of various flavors.It was so easy! I hope they are liked. I think it looks pretty.

I know when my mom would make up trays of cookies for cookie tables she always would sprinkle around jordan almonds for the color and they would all be eaten, so i did the same - after arranging all the chocolates I sprinkled the jordan almonds all over for color.

I wish I was with you! I loved growing up in campgrounds traveling with dad's job. I lived in one at college, much cheaper than dorms or an apartment. I hope all enjoyed themselves.

For much of the nation, it has been terribly hot this summer and I think a lot of us have abandoned our stoves and ovens!

I would have done exactly the same thing. And I don't know about others, but a piece of really good candy satisfies the need for sweet and rich (for me) with fewer calories than a bigger piece of dessert that I'd choose like cake or pie.

Great idea, and how did it go over?

Every piece was eaten quickly. So it was a success. The kids liked the PB cups!
