Several years ago my grandmother passed and everyone was fighting for over some of her vary valuable china, art and jewelry collection.

Since I'm single and not overly aggressive, I decided to not get involved in the fights and just wait. Several months later I asked my dad if anything was left and he said a few things were. That's when I thought what would remind me most of her, and her everyday dishes (which were porcelain) came to mind and so I asked about them.

Much to my surprise those were left and several months later my dad sent me her 30 china dinner and 30 salad plates. These dishes reminded me so much of her and the many many meals we shared at sleepovers and vacations.

In the time from when she passed until now, I have done some research online about the pattern. I found that it was indeed very very popular but discontinued several years ago. Lots of people collect it and it was lovely for me to learn that there were so many pieces that match the plates that I received. (My grandmother only used their plates). So in the past few years since she passed, I have purchased several matching bowls and few other items that she didn't have from eBay.

I don't know if it's just for sentimental reasons but I feel it's truly a lovely pattern and I am curious if others have it and use it. Given how many years it's been produced I feel sure there are many others that have it. And based on all this, I am curious of others on the boards here know it or maybe have it. And if you do have it or even collect it I would love to know a bit of the story of how you chose it. The plates I have from my grandmother I think were purchased in the 1950s. And again it's called Tranquebar (blue) by Royal Copenhagen.
