I want to purchase a new humidifier for my bedroom. My old one used a wicking filter (that I had to purchase online) and I hated the thought of that filter sitting in the water, so I want to purchase a non filter unit.

I went to Sears and purchased one that did not have a filter but with in days there was white dust everywhere. Is that the trade off of not having a filter - the white dust??
