Vacuumn Cleaner recommendation

I need a new one for low carpets and also good on pet hairs.

I had one from HSN years ago but it became too noisy. Then I got one from them for my son when they were giving points for mdse. He wanted it back for he got a Bissell and didn't like it I guess.. Don't know if it was new or used. It isn't picking up in my house very good--had it for 3 uses now. I hear about the Shark that is about all. So I need some feed back on the one you have, please.

Had my Oreck for 19 years not one problem. I use everyday, just a habit.

I have two Hoover Wind Tunnels (one is a year or two newer) that I keep on different floor. They are pretty lightweight and mobile, and they pick up everything in sight......really powerful. They are bagless uprights with a hose attachment and a rotating brush. I think you can get one for less than $140. I also can't stand the loud noise, and that's what I like best about these.........I don't have to wear my earmuffs when I use them!

I have a Dyson Animal and a Shark Rotator. I would definitely by the Shark again. I don't hate the Dyson, but it was much more expensive and has no additional features that make it worth more than the Shark. The Shark is easy to maneuver and does a great job of cleaning.

I have dogs and love the Dyson animal (ball style). I have two different models. I have a big house with all types of floor surfaces and these really perform for me. It gets pet hair that you didn't even know was there.

Years ago I had a Kirby vacuum and it was wonderful. The thing weighed a ton but it lasted for 20+ years. I then switched to the Dyson and have been more than pleased.

My Oreck is about as old as Panda's, and when it dies it will be replaced with another Oreck. I highly recommend the brand-- even if you have pet hair to deal with.

The best vacuum I ever owned was years ago - a Sears upright. Someone broke into our home and that was one of the things they stole. After that we had a heavy duty self-propelled Hoover Wind Tunnel. It was excellent and my husband loved it - and kept it after we divorced.

I'm happy with my Shark Rotator Power Lift-off (TSV several months back). My only complaint is the hose is too short, hopefully they fixed this on newer models.

I also would recommend an Oreck - powerful , works great on wood floors low pile carpet and also thicker shag rugs - and very lightweight

I love my Miele upright.. 16 years old. I have it serviced locally every year or so for about $25-$30.00. I also have a central vac system, which I use on my hardwood and tile floors. Bought DS a Sears canister vac for Christmas. He has hard surface floors throughout his house. Very reasonably priced on sale- maybe $70-$80.00.

I bought a Rainbow 32 years ago, and it is still going strong; use it mostly for vacuuming my furniture, heating vents, etc. For my throw rugs and general use, I buy whatever bagless vacuum Walmart has for under $100. I will never pay big bucks for another vacuum.

I like my Sharks. I have a large one for carpet and such and then realized that in fact I needed one of their stick ones. I wasted so much money over the years on little dustbuster things, I just treated myself to a nice stick. Love them both for their unique uses. They have held up well. If I were doing it again I might get the lift-away large one and forgo the stick. I got mine for a good price at Walmart.

I do like my Hoover Widepath; it is corded and an upright. Very substantial and I bought it at Walmart for under $100, a very fair price.

It also comes with all the tools on board.

After owning several vacuums over our married life, we bought a Shark Navigator LiftAway Pro a few years ago and it's been the best ever. We have a big, hairy Golden Retriever and this vaccum really keeps up with his shedding. The Shark has great suction power and the canister is easy to empty.

I got a dyson canister and I would never go back to a vacuum with bags and all that hassle. I had an Oreck and it is a pain, the bags and the one I have has needed repaired more often than not. I have it at our camp now and I really miss my Dyson when I'm there.

I have had my Miele canister vacuum for at least 20 years. It still works perfectly. I've always had pets, and it does a great job with pet hair.

I used to have a Sears canister I just loved. It had good suction (even adjustable so you could use less on lightweight rugs). After many, many years it passed away. Wish I still had it. (It used bags.)

Then I got a Miele Callisto (also a canister), which works great, has great suction, and adjustable suction when needed. It's more awkward than the Sears was, since you can't stand the cleaning head upright by itself. It doesn't click to stand, so you have to lean it or attach it to the base. Dumb design on an otherwise very good vacuum. It's also kind of heavy. (It uses bags.)

Now I mostly use a Dyson Motorhead rechargeable which really works great (good suction, lightweight, easy to change attachments). I love it except that the dirt collection bin is too small and, contrary to some, I like bags since the collection container gets icky and I like the idea of just tossing out a bag.

I have a Sears Kenmore Cannister, I really like it. I bought this one around 5 years ago after my first one gave out after 20 years.
