The washer hose came off the wall and spilled a large amount of water onto the laminate floor adjacent to the laundry room. We mopped it up as quickly as possible but i am worried about the laminate. They really emphasized the importance of it not getting wet when it was installed, and today it really got soaked.

Has anyone ever gotten their laminate floor soaking wet? What happened to it?

You can rent a dryer fan from Home Depot. I would put that fan on as soon as possible to dry out the floor.

It will expand with water. You may have to end up pulling up the wet floor and replacing it.

I have extra boxes of my laminate in case something happens to it.

I agree, rent one or two industrial type fans and have them pointed towards where the water ended up and then let them blow non stop for a couple of days..... good luck!

This happened to our kitchen floor when the dishwasher leaked and we were not home.

We dried the floor with one of those big fans and put as much weight on the floor while it dried.

The weight has to allow the air to do it's job, so we put a couple ladders on the floor first, then put heavy stuff on top of the ladders. It worked pretty well, but since the next year we changed the floor to wood, I don't know how it would have held up long term.

If you don't weigh the laminate down while it dries, it will warp.

Good wishes for your floor!

Moisture will cause it to buckle so you need to dry it ASAP. That's the only bad thing IMO about having hardwoods or laminate.

If you got it up really fast before it could soak in, it may be okay. You'll know soon enough. I damp mop my cork floors which are made just like laminate and they do fine, but I don't use enough water to soak into the cracks.

Only about 2 foot of it got wet . We have some boxes of the laminate if it turns out it does need to be replaced, but we would have to get someone in to do it.

Fortunately, i was standing right there when this happened and within seconds I had towels and was drying it.I suppose we can only hope and pray the water didn't have time to soak in and that I got it all.We just purchased one of those trays for under the washer so if it would leak it would go into the tray, and what happens ? The stupid hose lets loose and falls right onto the laminate. The washer wasn't even running - it was a lot of water in that hose though.

The hose coming loose from the wall is just awful. Years ago that happened to me. I left my house at 8:00 a.m. and got home about 8:00 p.m., and the carpet was soaking wet with water coming out where the hose had been. No telling how long that had been going on. I had to call my insurance company, who had someone come out and put fans on the carpet. In the end it couldn't be saved, and I had to replace my carpet.

I hope you got it in time and were able to save your floors. Thank goodness you were home.

Fortunately, my DH , always afraid something like this could happen installed a shut off on the water right where i can easily reach it,and when I'm not using the washer I turn the water off. It could have been much worse if the water was left on. As it was , it was only the water that was in the hose. However, that certainly was a lot of water!
