Couldn't locate the original lengthy thread on sheets, so here goes.

Once I determine which direction the bottom fitted sheet fits best, I use a marker on the foot edge that says " foot ". It saves a lot of time, energy and frustration.

As for "sheet garters", my old metal ones are still the best if you can find them. The newer plastic ones will give when stressed and the sheet slips out. Grrr....

Since I use a special low rise pillow which is much smaller than the regular size case, I have my pillowcases altered. Well worth the cost: they always look neat and taut AND they don't leave creases or wrinkles on your face from sleeping on them. For decorative shams that were too perfect and I wanted to use them immediately, I actually hand sewed the long edge. And, I hate with a capital H to sew!

For me, microfiber is a little too warm and brings back memories of hot flashes.

Smoothness-wise, I found that 100% cotton sateen stays the most wrinkle-free. Found a cocoa-hued king set at Tuesday Morning's clearance aisle for $39 !!! Found an oblong bright orange pillow with deep ruffles all over to contrast with the cocoa.

I have been marking the corner that goes on my side in the upper corner for years. It's the only way to keep your sanity in my house because DH bought a bed that has both a headboard and large footboard. Difficult to make up.

I would iike microfiber sheets if they weren't so flimsy - or perhaps I have just bought the cheaper sets. I'll shop more carefully in the future.

I use only Northern Nights WD sheets. The tag is always in the bottom right corner (standing at the foot of the bed and looking towards the head).
