I am so very disappointed with my Shark Rocket :(

I bought the Shark Rocket last April. I am so very disappointed with it. After fighting with it today, I thought I'd post here and warn anyone thinking of buying it. MIne is the "True Pet" edition.

First of all, it comes with way too many attachments. The roller part is too light, so it bounces over the rug, rather than hugging it closely. It does a miserable job. On bare floors it's almost useless. I couldn't even vacuum up some stray cat litter today. I have a hairy cat, so I vacuum often. I also have two new area rugs that are emitting a lot of fuzz - I have to empty the bowl several times while I'm vacuuming and I have a small house. I don't understand why this machine got good reviews. I wish I had saved the box.

Does anyone have this machine? Are you happy with it?

I purchased mine last year. I am extremely happy w/my Shark Rocket-color purple. I also have a cat.

You are the first I've heard to say a vacuum has too many attachments. Usually, vacuums do not come w/enough!!!! I'd rather have too many something than not enough. Thats just me.

If you are having so much trouble w/yours, why don't you complain to the manufacturer? See what they can do for you. You have a 5 yr warranty. Take FULL advantage of it.

I guess that's what I'll do, Mz iMac. I'm really not a fussy person. I've purchased lots of things over the years that were disappointing, but this one just bugs me. Maybe it's defective. I'll give them a call.

Hi, @house_cat, I have a Rocket (lightweight, converts to a handheld) and a Rotator, and I love them both. I vac daily (two very large dogs). I rarely reach for the attachments but when I do, they work fine. I find the bare floor attachment works better than simply using the machine with no beater bar, but I think I am getting less picky about perfect housekeeping. Eh - a little dust in the corners . . .

I've had Riccar and Dyson and I like the Shark better. I have mostly carpet but also hardwood and vinyl. I use my old Dyson out in the garage as a shop vac. The beater bar has died but it still picks up.

I love my Rocket. I've had it a couple of years and have had no problems.

I can't offer advice about too many attachments other than ignore the ones you don't find useful, but as for it not picking stuff up, have you rinsed the filter and let it dry well. The model I have recommends rinsing the filter monthly. I do so when I notice it misses little bits. After cleaning the filter, it's as good as new.

I'm sorry you're not happy with the Rocket. Maybe cleaning the filter wiil help.

I agree with @Mz iMac

- I like having the attachments and the versatility. I can choose to use or not.

Happy vacuuming. I find it cathartic.

Thanks, everyone. Nomless, no, I've only cleaned the filter once. Oops. Maybe I'd better do that before complaining to the company.

Sounds like it may be clogged somewhere. I clean my filter about 2x a month. Mine gets kitty litter really well......

I would call the company.......

i have had my Rocket for about 2 years. It is lightweight which actually took some getting used to! There are lots of attachments but I do use them especially for reaching high places, the lamp shades, back of the tv and furniture.The extra lng electrical cord is awesome. What I did not like about the Shark were the filters. Mine required very frequent washing to keep the suction. I vacuum several times a week and after about 18 months I could notice the diminished ability of the Shark.

HouseCat-- clean the filter and rinse out the cup, make sure the roller brushes are clean too.

filter should be clean once a month

let us know if that is better

I purchased a Shark Rocket and love it. Be sure to wash the filters as often as you

can remember. It is recommended once a month. It does make a difference.

I have dogs and need to use it every day, and it is great. I have even taken it

with me to our summer home because it does a better job than the vaccum

we have there.

when you pull out your filters to wash them . reach in where filters were . theres a round piece where filter was. rub your hand around that peice and should clear anything clogging air flow. i had that issue once and when i ran my hand aruond that peice vacuum clesred and went back to picking up well. love our rocket.

Yes. Thank you. When I first posted I had no idea that the filter needed such frequent cleaning. I've been keeping up with that and the pick-up is much better. Still, I find the design of the machine to be very awkard for lots of reasons. The main reason I purchased it was to clean my plantation shutters and ceiling fans, but it's heavy and clunky and difficult to use. In any case, thanks for all for the feedback and advice.
