They are doing construction right next to our campground. Today they are blasting out some rocks. What a sensation - our campsite is on top of a large cliff, probably 40 ft down to a creek at the bottom .There are what appears to be caves but are actually old mines that collapsed in 1910, with openings in the hillside. Not a good feeling when the whole thing is shaking under us, knowing it is rather unstable in the first place. I just asked my DH if we have subsidence insurance on this camper. he said , don't worry if this hillside goes we will be dead and our funerals are already paid for. OK then.

He just said "I told you it is bad karma to preplan funerals" as yet another big jolt came. We are going out to dinner and by the time we get back they should be gone for today. I guess if it's not one thing it's another.

There was a blast when I was in the shower and I had to hold onto the shower head to keep my balance.

151949, just want to tell you that I think you start the most interesting topics. Also love your husbands humor and responses. Hope your summer home stays in one piece. Stay safe and hope this weather stays decent so that you have a nice vacation here. I don't know about you but I don't think I live that far from you but we are not really enjoying sitting out on our deck this summer. By 8pm it is really chilly so in the house we come.

All of June we were up on Lake Chatuagga in New York. Enjoying the wine country. Then we travelled a bit so we haven't been here in the Pitts. area for long. We actually had better june weather than Pittss did. Not perfect , but better. Now we are here and the weather seems to be more like Sept. than August. I have a feeling we will be going home to Florida early this year.

We are enjoying the Pirates this year and looking forward to seeing some Steelers before we go home. We miss the enthusism for sports teams that we have here. I'm pretty sure DH is going to a Steelers game on Aug 23. with one of his buddies.

Glad that you are enjoying watching the Pirates. Hope they continue playing well. I just finished watching the special on channel 11 about Jerome Bettis. We recorded the KDKA special but the channel 11 was on for one hour. There are going to be more coverage on Jerome tomorrow so I will be watching as much as I can. Do you remember when Jerome father passed away? I guess I am going to have to look it up. So much excitement over Jerome going into the Football Hall of Fame. It will be nice if your husband gets to go to the Steeler game. My cousin has season tickets and never ever no matter what is going on will miss a game. He is there for every game. As you can tell we are not sitting out side tonight.

You need a vacation from a vacation! I would express my concerns at the office, but they are probably used to it and can explain the safety of it.

Our campsite has an antique fireplace - remnant of a log cabin that was here long ago. Until now it has been intact - an amazing testimony to whomever built it. However, the blasting has caused cracks in the morter. DH notified the owners and they were over to see it and whine and complain about it. They seemed to think it should now be taken down for safety sake.I hope we don't have to move this beast of a camper for them to do that.There is not a lot of room for them to work.

Well its been a few days now sure am hoping that they are not going to make you move your home away from home. Am sure that would be quite a lot of work. Darn Pirates are playing and are not doing wery good at this moment.

Someone from the construction company was here to look at the fireplace. He said they would repair it and it would be perfect. The owners were satisfied with that. They are supposed to make an appointment with us for when they can do it. It would be a shame to knock it down as it is a little bit of history. According to them we should not be able to feel any of the blasting they are doing. Well, they failed at that! Even some of the folks in the pretty historic town next to the campground are complaining about it.

3 large blasts shaking us so far this afternoon. It sounds like thunder rumbling then immediately everything shakes.My DH was asleep on the sofa and one woke him up. He had to put his foot on the floor because he felt like he was going to fall. The ones today are definitely closer than the ones a few days ago. I guess after they dig so deep then they hit rock and have to blow them up.

That blasting would make me a nervous wreck. I could just imaagine in my mind my plastered walls in this home cracking from blasting vibrations. i am glad that they never did any strip mining around were I live. Wanted to also tell you thank you for the tip on putting on fitted sheets. I have passed that hint to many of my friends and family who never new about it. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have cussed out loud trying to put my fitted sheets on my bed. So many thanks from us.

cater - you are totally welcome,My pleasure. How did the star watching go last night? I am so cold this morning I am sitting here wearing my nightgown and robe and sweatpants and a hoodie and DH's heaviest socks.I think it is only going to be a high of 72 today.We are thinking we will likely go home to Florida early this year - like September.

We had company yesterday early evening. The plan was cocktails here then out for dinner but the blasting was so bothersome we all just decided to go to the restaurant and have our cocktails. As it turned out they had Yingling light for $1.50 so the guys were glad we decided to go out early.

Cater - there is a free concert in Harmony tonight in the square. Just bring your own lawn chair. They start at 7PM and usually last til about 9:30 to 10PM. We can walk over from here. I am wearing winter clothes though. The group playing is The John Burgh band. 2 weeks ago they had Kadiz and they were great.

Hi 151949, Just wanted to tell you my sister and I were going to take a quick drive down to Harmony for that concert last thursday and she got a call and couldn't go and I got a car load of friends that decided to stop in for a quick visit. So there went my night. I used to go to a doctor whose office was in Harmony to this day I think he was one of the greatest doctor's I have ever been to. He decided to retire but he was the doctor I really trusted with my life. Hope that the blasting has quieted down for you.and your enjoying some peace and quiet. Hope your enjoying these past few days the weather has been nice if it was not so humid. We are supposed to get rain up this way tonight so we will wait and see if that happens. Have a good night and tomorrow morning I get to try that trick with my fitted sheets again thanks to your tip.
