I have always had Pyrex in my house, but in the last several years, have really ramped up my collecting. I especially like the mixing bowl sets, and the Cinderella bowl sets.

It's crazy how high some prices are on these vintage sets/pieces, but it is fun to find them for cheap at garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores.

Anyone else collect and use Pyrex, do you buy online, or only what you can find 'in the wild'? Do you have a favorite color or pattern that you covet?

I don't collect it, but I do use it almost excllusively when cooking in the oven and often the microwave. I guess because I'm older, some of my things might well be vintage - I know I am !!!

But I much prefer the Pyrex and also my Corning Ware to the Temptations they offer. I have a few pieces that I use to serve in during the holidays, and a couple of the soup and sandwich pieces. But I don't use Temptations for cooking, thanks to the frequent warnings from other Posters. I don't see any reasons to use something for cooking that others have found to break in the oven.

I hope that the Mods don't decide to halt any posts that refer to problems with products. It is very important for us to know the experiences others have had.

I don't collect it but I do still have and use 2 pieces. One I recieved as a wedding gift in 1976, an oval casserole dish with llid in the harvest gold and white with flowers on it. Also have a white bowl with the green flowers on it that was given to me back in the late 70's. I use the round bowl all of the time for heating canned vegtables in the microwave. It has handles on it so it is easier to get out of the microwave when hot.

I don't collect, but I'd definitely buy old Pyrex locally if I were to ever stumble across any.

I have several various clear and amber glass bakers and loaf pans from the early 90s that I use quite often, but I don't think any of them are vintage. They are very practical, though, so I'm glad to have them, along with my various Corning Ware.

I want a set of the Cinderella bowls and I think I will eventually buy them on ebay. I like quite a few of the colors and patterns that I see listed.

I have this set that my Mother had, but don't know how old it is. I found this picture on ebay as I havn't been able to post my own pictures here so far, and I was shocked at the prices on some of the sets, $100, etc. I think mine were probably bought in a hardware store, and looked brand new when my Mother passed. I use these a lot, love the pour spouts and sizes of them.

I collect the Corningware Blue Cornflower items when I find them at thrift stores. I found a neat wire cabinet recently at TJ Maxx that was black. I took it home and spray painted it an antique white.

It is now on top of my frig and I have my vintage coffee and tea pots in there. I also like to pick up old Fire King stuff when I come across it.

I have several items that were my mom and grandma's, but I like to add interesting things when I see them,

I had to run an errand in the north part of town where there are lots of antique places. There were several booths chock full of different patterns of Corning and Pyrex.

Of course, they are much more expensive in the antique stores. I love to find little treasures on the shelves at Goodwill for a couple of bucks.

I have some neat old bowls and divided Fire King bowls I have found. I need to make my rounds again soon! When I see one, I always flip it over to check it out.

When I travel by car, I am always on the lookout for antique stores along the way.

I check them out to see if I can find anything that is interesting that I can't find in my area. I must say, I do not think I have ever seen Pink Pyrex, or I would have remembered it.

I will have to be on the lookout for the Pink when I am out.

I want a Pyrex covered butterdish. I love doing laundry anyway, but then to get to 'visit' my bowl collection with each load, makes it even more fun.

I take different sets up to the kitchen depending on the season and color of dishes I'm using at the time, and actually use them. I will rotate them in and out for the various seasons or according to my moods.

Yes! I love it! It makes my heart happy when I see it and use it. I don't have a large collection, because I don't have a large house, but I love the pieces I have. I'll post some pictures of items that are the same or similar to what I have.

What beautiful sets those are.... remind me of fantastic cassaroles my Mom would make us during the 60's. She had quite a few of those bowls and a lot of Corning (Corn Flower Blue)...

I copied house_cat's photo because I think this is the set my Mother used all of the time as she had an aqua painted and accessorized kitchen, and it rings a bell in my mind, but it is long gone.

I'm bidding a lot lately on a set just like yours, but I keep loosing!

Isn't it wonderful to have those memories, of just what mom or grandma made and in which pieces it was always served? I look back at photos from the 1950's and 60's and see all the Pyrex at work during family gatherings and holidays. I still have a few pieces that were my mom's but many went to that big cupboard in the sky many years ago.

Thanks for those dates, and for others interested, there are a couple of online sources that have lots of Corning and Pyrex information.

www. corelle corner.com

www.pyrexlove.com
