Porcelain Kitchen Sink?

We are working on a remodel and I'm wanting a porcelain double bowl kitchen sink.

Does anyone have one and do you like it? Also, where did you buy it and what is the brand?

I insisted on one when I did a minor kitchen re-do before moving in... I'm not a fan of the 'farm' sinks but so did not want the traditional stainless sink because they aren't stainless... and I just don't like them. Not a double for me. I just wanted one large, deep bowl in white. Got mine at Home Depot and it's by Kohler. Boy was it heavy! And speaking of which, be sure and let it settle well into your counter top before doing any caulking... I learned that the hard way...

I have a porcelain double sink. It's 15 plus years old, and we didn't get it at Lowes or Home depot but at a local retailer. It stains with use but cleans easily with barkeepers friend. There's a chip in it, so that can happen over time. HTH

I love the look, but hated having one. Some people love them, but I won't have another if I can help it. I believe ours was Kohler. Perhaps my opinion is not the average because I don't care for stainless sinks either. I want something much more durable next time. Not sure what.

I had one. I enjoyed it for some time and then I hated cleaning it. I am now a stainless fan even though there was a time I did not like them at all.

Thanks stevie, I never want stainless steel again. I will check out Home Depot.

I'm wanting white too since we are doing the whole downstairs in black and white.

In the black, there were marks that could never be removed. They were not stains, in the traditional sense because the sink was black. However, there was no amount of scrubbing that would remove the marks. I tried everything under the sun, and they wouldn't budge. The most aggravating thing ever -- to have a beautiful sink that could not be kept beautiful no matter what. We weren't rough on the sink either. In fact, back then, I didn't cook a lot and was very careful to keep the house as perfect as possible because we were trying to sell it. We had built it as a spec house.

Quartz, natural stone, solid surface...I think concrete is even an option. Not sure what we will go with next. P. S. I didn't mean to turn you off to something you love. I'm sure you will get replies from people who love theirs. Maybe talk to some folks at a kitchen design store (not home depot or lowe's). They can give you all the options available and help you decide what your perfect sink would be. If you are installing it in a house where you will be living for quite some time, don't settle for something you don't love. I've had to move around enough and live with a variety of finishes, and am determined to be slow and deliberate about the choices I make in our next home, which will be one we plan to live in for at least 10-15 years.

Thanks, I really want the truth because we will live in this house for the rest of our lives.

I want to choose right the first time and the best way to find out is by asking.

I had a lot of help from posters trying to decide how many lights to put over the bar.

I need all the help I can get.

I'm very happy with mine. It came with the house. It gets a lot of use and abuse, as most do, but it always comes clean with Soft Scrub. If I really am cleaning the whole kitchen and want it to shine, I fill both sides with bleach and water - one side at a time! - and let it sit while I'm doing something else, about one hour or so. Then I let the bleach/water out and go over it with a wet cloth. It does shine! We have a large bowl on one side, and a smaller one with a garbage disposal on the other. Have fun with your remodel!

I would love to have a single bowl farm sink but my husband doesn't think I will like it since we won't have a dishwasher (which I don't want).

I know call me crazy but with just my husband and me, I want more cabinets.

This one is Vitreous China/Porcelain

This one is really pretty-It's copper, a bit spendy at $825

When our house was first built we went with a double porcelain sink in off white. I loved it at first but over the years it had stains that I could not remove totally and had a few chips even though I was extremely care. I went back to a double stainless steel when we had our kitchen remodeled. I don't have to baby it so much now.

I've been in my house for 18 years. I started out with a white porcelain double sink. It stained and scratched and became unsightly in a few years time. I replaced it with a horrible granite sink from Home Depot. HORRIBLE! I really don't like anything thing from Home Depot/Lowe's. We recently (3 years ago) got a granite countertop and I decided to get a stainless steel full sink in my kitchen. I LOVE it! BUT...it scratches too. After I noticed some scratches I decided to get a rack for the bottom. OOhhhh it helps soooo much to keep it nice and scratchfree! In my new cottage (that we are moving into full-time) we got stainless steel and I immediately bought racks for those sinks!

Our original sink was porcelain, but we replaced it with stainless steel. I didn't realize how fast stainless would get scratched and wish we had kept the porcelain sink.
