I've been tempted on quite a few occasions to purchase one of these with the battery operated candles inside BUT how do you them inside? It is my understanding that they don't open and the candle is attached.

Is there a specific luminary you are talking about? Or are there specific ones you have been wanting?

There are LOTS of various luminaries...some have candles that are attached like the Luminara Churchill Lantern (H202047), and others are removable like VPH's ceramic hurricane (H202090). View the pics/videos for both as examples

I was looking at the bunny and duck yesterday but I understand they don't open and dust has to get on the inside at one point. Thanks.

I haven't had any dust issues with enclosed luminaries. I guess you could use the vacuum so it blows air and blow any dust out or if you have a keyboard dust tool.

Clean the inside, if they don't open.

You can unfasten the scr*ws, remove the candle and its battery box and rinse off the ceramic part.

Just to be perfectly clear, I've never actually done this with the ceramic pieces, but the picture on the listing looks like it is possible. I do it all the time with my metal lanterns that have similar construction.
