I only buy Ralph Lauren bath towels, the extra large ones. I love them. I have all white. They are 100% cotton which is very absorbent and so nice. I love big huge spa bath towels and RL makes the best ones. We use a clean bath towel, every time we shower. It's just a "thing" for me, I just like having a fresh towel with each shower. So I have a closet full of RL white bath towels.

I hate towels that have any poly content or are made from anything like bamboo or other materials.

Hi Ima--Where do you purchase your RL towels?

Hi Ladies,

Pretty soon I'd like to update our bath towels. I'm looking for extra-large bath sheets that will fully wrap around the body. I also need them to be absorbent, soft, and good quality. I have a big DH. And children. And we like the big, big towels. For years we've purchased Ralph Lauren sheets at a few of the outlets. They have lasted well and are nice quality. Wanted to see if there is anything else out there that you really, really like.

TIA

My answer will be of no help to you, but I love vintage towels. I think most of what is made today is lacking in absorbency. Give me the better quality towels from the 70's and 80's, many made by Cannon and Fieldcrest, and I'm a happy woman. I have many from that era, some that I actually bought then, others picked up at estate auctions and thrift stores. It is amazing how many people bought these things and never used them, just stored them away.

Best of luck on the hunt for new ones. There are so many pretty colors and designs out there now, they just don't last for decades like the old ones!

I agree about Ralph Lauren! My RL towels last for years. I get mine at Marshalls; the good Sheets/towels buying time is coming, as the stores clear out Winter stock for Summer. Time to buy some Ralph Lauren sheets as well! They also wear forever.

When buying towels, always buy 100% cotton.

My family prefers the extra-large bath sheets. For years I have been buying our bath sheets, hand towels and wash clothes at JCP. I can't remember the brand (I cut off tags - can't stand them on anything, especially clothing) that I bought but our local JCP has a wonderful selection of all types and colors of towels.
My husband and I recently purchased some new towels from Bed, Bath and Beyond and really like them. They are the Wamsutta towels and come in every color under the rainbow! I am pretty picky with towels and these have been really nice. I've tried Pottery Barn towels and they actually felt TOO thick, especially the washcloths. Their trim was also too stiff and made washing uncomfortable. It sounds funny, but it was actually hard to wash my ears with their washcloths...too much material! The Wamsutta towels don't leave a lot of lint after the first few washings (sometimes colored towels never stop dropping lint). We bought gray and there aren't any problems with lint. I don't use fabric softener on these as I've heard that contributes to stinky towels. They also offer bath sheets and tub mats which is nice if you want coordinating pieces. The price is fantastic for the quality. Hope this helps!

I really like the ones from BBB. They are an organic or Supima brand. They were not cheap. I will buy them again as they are soft, super thirsty, thick but not too thick. I have the Charisma from Costco, and they are wonderful, but not as thick and thirsty as the BBB. They are half the cost though. I also have a few Ralph Lauren hand towels I bought at Home Goods, or whatever that discount home store is named. They are 3rd rate compared to the other 2. Also, use the 20% off at BBB.

The best towel I ever bought in my life came from the sale bin at HSN/ They were 100% Egyptian Pima cotton. They sold them for a while, then no more. I would buy those for twice the price if they had them again.`

I like the Costco towels. I just got 2 towels at Costco that weren't the charisma brand, not sure of the name, but they were all white with a checkerboard pattern ( white on white ). Not good at all. I thought they would improve after washing, but no such luck. Just average weight and absorbstion. Nothing like the chucky charisma towels. I will only buy charisma brand if I buy towels at Costco.

JCP has a GREAT towel! Only reason why I got is because they sent me a free gift card in the mail for a towel.Sales rep told me about it. It dries fast in dryer too! It absorbs water great getting out of the shower. The only way to describe it is made up of little bumps.Holds its shape sof tMine is a deep bright green color.(like color of fresh grass) good size too ! Price was good too.Hope you try it. Love towels that dry quickly! It'seems not like other towels that take forever in the dryer.Let me know if you try them
