I have another brand, but they pretty much all make some kind of noise. Mine gurgles from time to time, but it's a fairly soft sound. I rarely notice it because I live in a noisy neighborhood and use a white noise machine anyway. I would guess that some machines gurgle louder than others, and the higher it's turned up the more it will use water, so more gurgle.

In general I have been happy with this humidifier, but periodically as the water dispenses into the bottom of the unit from the tank it makes a loud gurgling sound. Not good during the night! I'm not sure if this is normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

No, but I am sending mine back -- no "fill to" line and don't like that you have to flip it over to fill. Also, maybe I am using it in too big a room but it is not bringing the humidity level as high up as I would like it. Will get it packed up and sent back tomorrow.

Yes it makes the gurgling noise, about once an hour? I've gotten used to it, its not too loud.

And i thought it would last longer than it does. If i fill it full it will last 8 hours on full blast. I guess maybe i could turn it down, but if im sick, i'd like to have it going full blast to help me breath.

I have a Holmes brand and mine gurgles when it is dispensing more water from the tank to the base. It is also warm mist so it boils in the base as well.

Luckily between my white noise machine and my air purifier, it is drowned out.

I also have one you need to turn upside down to fill. Ohhh, I wish I didn't. Too late now :-( I typically don't run mine on full, as I'm not thrilled with how often I have to fill it. I tend to run it about 10 hrs a day on about 60-65% "speed" and that will last me 2 nights. If I run it nearly full blast it will last 8-10 hrs.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I'm sure I will get used to it - I just wanted to make sure it wasn't defective, as it was a bit of an investment. Filling the tank often is one of the drawbacks, but I think the humdified air helps.

Yes, as the water evaporates out of the reservoir, the sound you hear is it refilling.
