There have been a lot of issues nationwide with wages at Wal-Mart stores. Here's an interesting fact: The Walton family that owns Wal-Mart, owns more wealth than the bottom 40% of the American population. Do you shop here?

Period. Don't blame WalMart. I don't like the company, but people support it, so there you go.

Finally a voice of reason, and I agree with you.

Although I do shop a Walmart, I try to shop more local first, if available. In our area, we sometimes don't have much left in many catagories to choose from. But for example, I won't buy plants and seed at Walmart, because we have a number of very nice locally owned and operated green houses that employ many local people, and have fantastic products. They cost more, but are better quality and I can buy local.

You hit the nail on the head. Walmart didn't drive anyone out of business. The greedy American consumer did. They chose to pick a cheaper price, in town after town, time after time, rather than go and pay more at the mom and pop local places. Just like the American worker was one of the big contributing factors to moving jobs overseas (not the only factor, as governmental regulations/taxes, and owners wanting huge profits contributed as well), the American consumer dealt the death blow to small business, not Walmart. People were not forced to embrace Walmart and spend their money there, they chose to and keep choosing to.

And I too, get tired of hearing people bash the wealthy. If money is earned legally and without moral corruption, there is no evil in it. Wealthy people provide jobs (I never had a paycheck signed by a poor man) and help stimulate the economy. They provide billions a year in tax money and charity. It is simply the powers that be that want us divided (by race, wealth, secks, etc) and fighting among ourselves, so we don't take time to see just what they are doing.

I rarely shop at Wal Mart simply because there are very few stores close to me and I can buy most of what I need/want elsewhere without making the trek. But when they have something I can't get elsewhere, sure I shop there. The owners of just about every multi-billion dollar corp are billionaires. Wal Mart gets the most negative publicity because there are more of them, in places where, if there was no Wal Mart there would be pretty much nothing.

Those who think Amazon is so wonderful? Do some reading up on working conditions in their warehouses, lawsuits filed in the US and Europe.

Some people have no choice or very little choices but to work there as they have no real skills so Walmart or fast food are what they can get!!

There is nothing wrong with being rich but you would think that if you were poor and worked your way up you would treat your employees better now that you could afford to. Instead they donate to some charities and brag about it but it's a writeoff!! Better to pay their employees better! I very rarely if ever shop there but those that support these types of stores that put local businesses out of business, just want cheap and don't care about anything else or don't think of the consequences of supporting such places!!!
