Hi Everyone, Although I'm not ready to take everything down yet (not for a few weeks), I'm curious to know if there's a better way to store my more fragile holiday stuff? Right now I sorta wrap up some of my items and place in large Rubbermate storage boxes. This isn't ideal because stuff inevitable gets jostled throughout the year. Any unique storage ideas out there? TIA

I wrap it in bubble wrap and put in a box that is about the same size as the items. I would likely put the box in the Rubbermaid container.

I wrap it and crate it too... I don't think there is a perfect way, at least not one that's practical for most of us... I guess we have to balance our hope to preserve it all against the time it takes to store and retrieve it and the practicalities of the limited space most of us have to store it... I try to store a few more precious pieces in a cabinet or piece of furniture.

I use bubble wrap, large Rubbermaid containers, and cardboard boxes for the larger stuff (particularly the trees). I toss silica gel packets into everything for good measure to absorb moisture. I have a large storage area off my laundry room where I stack everything.

Bubble wrap, foam, tissue paper, newspaper - store in plastic storage containers and cardboard boxes. I have a huge storage area under my stairs - I keep all my Christmas stuff in there - it doesn't get touched again 'til next year.

I use ornament containers and bins with tissue paper, bubble wrap and holiday towels. I have a ton of those and make nice wraps. Double duty that way. I have bins and just purchased some so I could carry them upstairs when I go to decorate. I had a huge one and would put all kinds of things in that and then haul things up a few at a time and took forever. So the large bin is in the garage and using for the lights that we put up this year. The new containers hold just as much as the big one only using three instead of one but fit in the same spot.

I have a big long storage closet downstairs and all my decorating items go in there. I just keep it organized and not too much stuff. I clean it out and keep it current. I try and come up with new ways of doing things each year to make it easier for me especially as I get older. I have shelves also in that closet where items in boxes can go nicely. It is a well organized and thought out space.

If it is too much of a hassle then I will not decorate and I like to decorate for Easter and Thanksgiving and some of the other times too and the grand kids are little so it is fun for us but simple is best too.

I organize and move out old stuff each year so I keep things under control. I gave my daughter some items this year that were nice but just did not have the room and she does not have a lot of decorations and she wanted them. If she does not want then out it goes. Works for us.

I use the ornament storage boxes, then for larger pieces I use individual boxes with bubble wrap. Some really breakable larger items I use the box it came in, with the shaped Styrofoam inserts. I have pared down on most of my décor, as I don't have much display space anyway, so this works for me. I also keep all my décor in the space under the stairs and it isn't really used for anything else, so no problem with other things crushing any of it.

Many of the things I get from Q, especially VPH and fragile, I keep the original molded Styrofoam packaging to best protect them. I write in dark marker on the box, just what it is, and try to store my various vignettes together so everything to complete that particular look is in one place. Lots of loose stuff in large plastic tubs now. I had to get away from the cardboard boxes, as they were a nightmare to keep stacked. I, too use holiday towels as wrapping, as it does serve double duty.

tree ornaments go into ornament storage boxes that I get at the Container Store. Other items that are for display purposes get wrapped in bubble wrap and put in clear plastic bins. Any spaces in between get stuffed with tissue paper so the items don't shift. masking tape with the general contents on top so I know what's in what bin.

I use Rubbermaid containers, but I just layer most of my ornaments with old towels. I have one Christopher Radko ornament that goes back in the original box. Things like ceramic cookie jars get wrapped in paper towels. Once the containers get to their storage area in a corner of DH's workshop, they don't get moved until the following December. Nothing has ever gotten chipped/broken except for a couple of things that my cat knocked off the shelf where they were displayed!
