If you use laundry soap pods.....

I just emailed Tide and suggested they make half-pods for small loads of laundry. I told them there is a need for them. I hate using a whole pod for a 1/2 load of laundry. I do half loads when I need something before I have a full load or if I wash special things and don't want to mix the laundry.

Anyone else think there is a need?

I don't like powders or liquids since they came out with the pods.

I do not use the pods, they do not disintegrate fully in my water.

Hmmm....I wonder why? I've never had a problem even in cold water.

I start the wash cycle with hot water,throw the pod in,let enough hot water run to cover the pod. I then let the pod disintegrate & switch to cold water/wash rinse. I've never had an issue with the pods not disintegrating fully that way.

I have had an issue with them in cold water, myself. Not really a fan. I have tried Tide and Gain. Maybe to do with the washers we have?

I love the pods, and just yesterday when throwing one pair of jeans into the wash, I was wishing I didn't have to waste a full pod for such a small load.

I've never used laundry pods before, and this is the main reason. I use different amounts for every load, depending on size and degree of dirt, or even if I'm adding something else, like a laundry booster.

All my loads are large. LOL

I love the pods and use them all the time.

I do have a small bottle of liquid detergent that I use when I do have a small load.

Half-pods are a good idea though. Let us know if they get back to you.

I also think I could get by with using a 1/2 pod most of the time unless the clothes are really dirty because I have soft water.

I much prefer liquids so I can control how much I actually need, and never a problem with dissolving.

I just saw the hind end of an announcements where children are being poisoned by EATING these things!

They said children think they're candy because they are colorful, soft and look like candy.

I guess everyone should make sure they are put in a different container (other than just a cardboard box) and secure it.

I'd like to see everything done in 1/2 's . I'm a widow and live alone. I have a surprising number of friends who live alone.

There are more now than ever in history and will continue to grow as us Baby Boomers get older.

Why do we have to buy large sizes of detergent, bread, you name it? There's no one to finish it off!

I totally agree with the OP on this one. My hand is raising up in agreement!

I use pods. That is a great idea. I keep a cheap bottle of soap and use it to do a few things I have to hand wash. A small pod would be great.

Liquids are much more economical for the reason others have noted - you can adjust the amount based on the size and filth (? lol) of your load.

This has to be so irresponsible on the parents. Like everything else it should be kept out of a child's reach. I even saw a story where the grandma thought it was a teething toy and gave it to a six month old. Really how dumb can one be,

I do too bonnielu. I use those one's that are hard. That way I know the water is hot enough to melt all of it. I always worried about that, so I stopped using liquid.

I live alone so I wash off the dishes and run the cycle (8 minutes) that rinses them off good and then eventually I turn it on.

I use the Kirkland brand laundry pods from Costco....have never had a problem with them not dissolving properly and I do wash a lot in cold water. I keep a small bottle of liquid detergent for single garments or the handwash cycle. I am not a fan of the Tide pods; I found the outer plastic pod coating stuck to clothing at the end of the cycle more than once. I like the pods since they are neat and no mess or drips....throw one in and i'm done......and they are great if you are teaching your kids to do laundry.....

Since the Tide POD plastic dissolves in your water, I wonder about the environmental impact on groundwater. All things considered, it may be no worse than a plastic jug of liquid detergent. But it would be interesting to see a comparison. The other downside to Tide PODS is that they need to be melted (wow) in hot water. I try to use cold water as much as possible.

Mine dissolve completely in cold water. I've never had one not dissolve.
