We are two, three every three months and summer, and I buy everything I can at Costco. For instance, two larger gallons of milk than the market offers is $3.+ for the two, half as much as at the market. The same with bread, I keep the extra bread and bagels in the freezer. Butter is dirt cheap, organic eggs, and on and on. The only items I don't buy there are items it doesn't carry, for the most part.

Do you think a Costco membership is worthwhile for a 1 or 2 person household? Do any of you buy online from Costco or mostly buy at the store? What items do you mostly buy and do they have something you can't get anywhere else?

The closest Costco from us is 65 miles away, but I'd still be curious if they ever have a store here

We are a 2 person household and wouldn't be without our Costco membership. I go about every 6 weeks or so and stock up on what we need. Paper goods, vitamins, printer ink, and anything lease we might need. I always get a rotisserie chicken and other treats. They are expanding their organic selections. Can you tell I love Costco? LOL!

YES! YES! and did I say YES! We are 2 and I don't know what my grocery bill would be without them. Meat, juice, paper products, canned goods, etc are so much cheaper. Love their sheets, towels and kitchen items. Baby and kids clothes are the best. I do a great deal of my Christmas and wedding gift shopping here as well. Love their home improvement things as well. Last year we got our new furnace & air conditioning system from them. Saved a ton!! Always order my custom blinds. We use the Bali ones that we measure and put up. Customer service is second to none. Whether we order on line or buy in store they always take returns no questions asked. Well worth the cost of admission. We are executive members and because we get a cash back bonus once a year, we never pay for our membership out of pocket. Love this place

Yes, I believe it's worth the membership investment, if you're going to avail yourself of all Costco has to offer other than solely food type items. Don't get me wrong, we buy a lot of groceries there, but also get eye exams, eyeglasses, tires, our auto and homeowner's insurance, gasoline for two vehicles, etc.

Wow! Awesome replies! I was talking to a friend on the phone tonight, she's single, lives alone, was telling me how great Costco is .... I just couldn't believe it would be worthwhile for one person since they sell so much in bulk ... but she does a lot of baking and mentioned the butter, and just like Reiki, she said she wouldn't be without her membership. I guess she's telling the truth! Now I'm curious what everyone's buying there! Thanks for the replies.

I have been a Costco member for 2 years. And I rarely go there anymore. There are 3 people in my household. I don't need 4 pounds of grapes to spoil before they are half eaten, I don't need 3 pounds of broccoli, or 3 pounds of cottage cheese to turn pink on me. The cream cheese is also in a 3 pound size. Just about everything I used to buy I ended up throwing out at least a half full container.

I pass Costco twice a day on my way to and from work. The thrill is gone and I bet I shop there maybe 4 times a year. Not worth paying for the membership.

I am a 1 person household. Been a member for years. Closest location just a few miles from me. I go in about once a month. I hate to shop, plus being a busy professional I don't have much time on a weekly basis. I buy all cleaning, laundry, bathroom, paper products there. Pantry amd frozen items too. I stay away from fruits and vegetables, although great prices, I can't eat it before it goes bad. I say best cost savings at Costco for trash bags,,toilet paper, paper towels, dryer sheets, and some cleaning supplies. K-cups Kirkland brand - 100 count for $36, cheapest I can find without spending time looking for best deals and coupons. Absolutely the best customer service ever and return policy can't be beat. For me, membership is worth my time and saving me from needing to shop and restock as often. Oh...I very rarely shop online with Costco. I used to, but found some items that are also available at the store were priced higher on the website, and that turned me off and became untrusting of their website prices. So I don't anymore.

Two people can share a membership, and you don't have to be in the same household or address either, so if you have a friend or family member who is interested, you can split the annual fee. I'm members with a friend who lives in a different state. I have my card, she has hers. To get it it started, we went into Costco together and asked to have me added on to her card, so that's what happened. Took my photo, issued my card.

I only buy for myself - and I've been shopping at Costco for 20 years. There are so many products u can buy: food (not all are giant sized); clothes (sweaters, jackets, etc); pharmacy; gifts for birthdays/holidays, and lots more. Once u join, you'll be receiving in the mail, a Coupon Book, around once/month ---- and using the coupons more than pays for the membership. A few weeks ago, I saved almost $25. I've also purchased items on-line: brass kitchen faucet; brass handles/knobs for all the cabinets in my house. Two weeks ago, I ordered a 40" Samsung flat-screen tv on-line --- great savings -- and I didn't even have to leave my home. They have quality food & products. 2-year warranties on big and small appliances/electronics. Costco also has the best return policy and customer service. If they sell it-----that's where I buy.

Yes! There is just my DH and me, and it's definitely worth it for us. Of course, we also make business purchases. Plus, I find lots of gift items there...especially children's toys for Christmas. My Costco is only 2 miles from my house, but years ago the only one was 30 to 40 miles away, and I still shopped there. I can't imagine not having a Costco available to me.

IMO it's worthwhile if you shop there consistently. Their meat is quite good and the gas is always less expensive. Those are two things that most people use all the time, and they can add up. But if you only go every now and then for a few things, then no. If you up your membership to executive, it costs more but they give you a rebate on purchases that offsets the annual fee and then starts giving you cash back.

However, I still regularly buy toilet tissue, fresh fruit, nuts, vitamins, Kirkland brand preservative-free sliced turkey, cheese, batteries, almond milk and gasoline. I probably go once a month or so. They also are a great place to stock up on baking supplies for the holidays.
