(posted on view point a few days ago, only received one reply)

we are moving in 2 years (to be closer to my parents). we know that our kitchen needs some updates. we live in a wealthy neighborhood. our house was build in 1994 and nothing had been done in the kitchen. Buyers in this area expect a remodeled kitchen in this price range. I received quotes for both minor face lift (existing cabinets to be re-stained, replacing corian counter top with slab granite and installing all new high-end appliances) and brand new kitchen(new cabinets, granite and all new appliances). $7000 is the difference between these two.

I am not sure which one gives me a better return. What's your opinion? should i remodel just prior to list the house or do it now so i get to enjoy it?

Ellie
