I've had Malden Mills, and after one wash and dry, there were rough patches on equidistant areas of the sheet. I don't know why, maybe it's the thread pattern, but I would assume that because there was a pattern to the rough areas, the warp and weft of the fabric was inconsistent.

I used to be able to rely on things like thread count, Egyptian cotton, etc. to know the sheets would be soft. I've checked so many places and even on Q, sheets that I thought would be a good buy got poor reviews. I realize some companies fudge on thread count but I thought Q would make sure the manufacturers who sell here would be reliable. Last month I spent over $120 for king size sheets (not from here) and they're okay but they're not super soft. Years ago, I just bought percale and they were perfect. Now it's like a major ordeal trying to find sheets that are great quality and soft without taking out a loan. I've noticed a lot of microfiber in the stores and they feel soft but I'm sure that they will end up pilling. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

I have a very healthy array of quality sheets in high thread counts that have been put on the shelf for the cooler months since I invested in a few pairs of the Malden mills polar fleece sheets from here. My DH loved them so much he insisted after one night sleep that I call and order more sets for he never wanted to be without them. They are soft, durable and simply wonderful. I use my other sheets when the weather gets warmer. These sheets are the best, soft as a baby blanket and as one customer described like a hug.

Okay, I was a 1200 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton snob, yet for years I've been loyal to a brand called Pure Beech. They sell modal sheet sets at BB&B. Now, don't get the sateen version they sell, get the ones that feel like jersey knit. They should have samples out in the store. The more you wash them, the softer they become. You can dry them on hot or cold. It doesn't matter. You can't mess them up. They're soft, affordable and resilient. I love climbing into these.

Then I ordered them for the guest bedroom.

Does anyone use these in the summer? Are they hot? I know some people use flannel in the summer and say they are not hot (I never tried because I'm not crazy about flannel sheets), so I was just wondering.

I'm always the lone dissenter on these threads, but I really didn't care for the polar fleece sheets. We bought a set two years ago, from QVC, and used them religiously that winter. I felt that they were heavy, comfortable but heavy. And they were so stretchy. I bought too dark a color which was a mistake and we just didn't care for them.

When it came time for last winter, I pulled them out of the linen closet and my husband and I both said "nah" and I gave them to Goodwill.

I absolutely LOVE India Hicks 100% cotton sheets. Bought a set a few months ago and after the best night's sleep on these lusciously soft sheets, I got on the computer and ordered another set the next day. The southern channel sells them.

Most of my sheets are a minimum of 600 tc with one 1000 tc, these are 400 tc which I wasn't sure I would like. Leaves the rest of my sheets in the dust. I've used these two sets over and over again and really need to get more. They're on clearance now, so I'd better move quick!

This holiday season my DD & SIL will be receiving a set.

I bought a set of Threshold Ultra Soft 300 TC from Target, based on a post on this forum. I love them. They are really soft which I didn't expect from just 300TC. The sheets and pillowcases are sold separately, so if you have a really tall queen mattress, you can get a queen fitted sheet and a king flat sheet. The fitted sheets fit a 20" mattress and have elastic all around, so they stay put. They have good reviews as well. I got mine on sale, so double happiness!

The polar fleece sheets are wonderful...bought one set .... And husband insisted on polar fleece only...so purchased more... Like a baby's blanket and launders beautifully.

Aren't they great! We get quite cool here at night in the winter. Those polar fleece sheets really do feel like a baby blanket. We also bought a polar fleece blanket to use with them. Mine launder beautifully too.
