I am grateful for the helpful posts on the forums. I bought many items from info on the Q forums. However, I would say that about 50% of them I have bought from other online sites/stores/vendors and not the Q.

Speaking for myself of coarse, I also don't look at it as 'monkey see, monkey do' because I pick and choose what I want. Just because someone posts about an item, doesn't necessarily mean it's my taste, I like it, or want it

How many times have you read posts on the Forum about a product someone has purchased and all of a sudden it hits you, " I have to get this"? I have done this a lot of times and I wonder how much QVC sells due to Forum members informing others about the availability of products or that they have purchased an item and loved it. It will be interesting to see how much we are influenced by this scenario.

The one thing I can say for sure the Forums talked me into is WEN. I wasn't going to try it, wasn't, wasn't, wasn't. And then came a 5-flavor TSV in 2009 and there I was, ordering WEN. Still using it.

Some of the things I think Forum poster seem to try hardest for us to get on the bandwagon for - Linea, Ripka, lots of cosmetics - they haven't persuaded me yet.

But it works the other way, too. I think there are things lots of posters want me to quit buying - Graver and bronze jewelry come to mind. Nothing anyone has posted has made me stop buying either.

I have ordered things after reading about them on this forum many more times than I care to admit! Sometimes they've been amazing buys and sometimes they were items I really had no use for.

I'm better about this than I used to be, though. Now I grill myself on whether or not it's something I need before I hit the "complete order" button.

Guilty as charged! I especially do it in this particular forum, as people post pics or details of how they use a particular product, then I think "Hey! I have something that I can use to do almost the same thing", and sometimes talk myself out of it.

I think we sell just as well as the hosts do!

I would guess that this is why the boards are here, for us to help them sell products. And yes, I have bought because people here on the boards raved about certain items. I really have stopped, sometimes I still almost do it, but stop myself before I pull the trigger, once I consider if I will really use/wear the item. It is nice though, to get other's opinions.

I absolutely have purchased items because someone on these forums talked about them. I am so thankful that a place exists where I can visit with others who are interested in decorating and entertaining as most of my friends are not interested. Also, I'm not much of a shopper. I don't visit B&M stores regularly and I don't watch shopping channels except for recording VPH and LR decorating shows. I really appreciate the posters here for sharing their finds and ideas.

I do try to avoid impulse purchases. I try to think long and hard about how I might use an item and where it will be stored when not in use. Sometimes, the storage issue alone will keep my order finger from pressing the submit button.

Yes, I've tried a few things based on what I've read on these forums. Some worked out great, others not so much (I'm not saying which ones to avoid a big argument). My favorite, though, is Nailtiques, which ended my search for a nail product that would really help my nails.

Related, though not entirely on-topic: I once bought an eyeshadow quad (can't remember the brand now) because Lisa R raved about it being her go-to neutral shadow. This was a long time ago & I have since learned better.

I'm not. Used to be. I have used enough products to know that what works for one does not work for all. I do read the posts & reviews for products but have to decide for myself if it's something I want. The only way to know if you will like it is try it. Now when it comes to sheets all I have to do is read one review that says they pill & I'm not buying them.

I have enjoyed everyone's post. I'm sure we don't order an item if it doesn't appeal to us even if someone else raves about it, but sometimes it makes us think about it more and then we order. I'm especially vulnerable with Christmas décor as long as it isn't the traditional Red and green or multi colors, which are not my style, I'll take a look at it if a lot of people love it. Enjoy shopping.

VCamp, Was it the Amber Eyes set??? If so, I remember how often that eyeshadow set was pushed by LR. I would channel surf and stop on Q much more often back then. It seemed like every time I flipped by, there was the Amber Eyes! I did think it looked great on TV, but I read the reviews by posters here about the poor quality, and decided it wasn't worth the hassle of trying and returning.

On 11/4/2014 lucymo said:
How many times have you read posts on the Forum about a product someone has purchased and all of a sudden it hits you, " I have to get this"? I have done this a lot of times and I wonder how much QVC sells due to Forum members informing others about the availability of products or that they have purchased an item and loved it. It will be interesting to see how much we are influenced by this scenario.

I'm definitely guilty. I don't think I ever purchased a home decor item before finding this forum. Sure, I would watch a home decor show every now and then, but would always think, "No, that can't really be all that nice since it's on a shopping channel".

Reading the various opinions and first-hand reviews of items by members here really gave me the desire to try some of the items. I appreciate the honest not-so-good opinions as much if not more than the positive opinions, as long as they are given with some manner of politeness and are not directed at the poster instead of the product.
