Thrift Store Finds

I was shopping in my local thrift store today and was looking for gently used Halloween and fall décor items I could use in decorating for fall. I found some in spite of the fact they had very few Halloween items left.

But my real find today was a Woolrich wool vest made in the USA for my DH. We were shopping at Woolrich recently and saw this same exact vest priced at $79.00. Today, I found it in perfect condition in his size for $18.00. Wow, what a find, and, of course, purchase.

Have you discovered any real finds in your thrift store lately?

Yes, I did!!! I've been donating quite a few items recently and couldn't believe what I found the last time I stopped at the resale shop. I bought a cropped, three-quarter length sleeve mink coat from the 1950's ~ and it fits!!! I couldn't pass it up ~ it looks just too cute on! And the price? $32.00!!! I'm having it professionally cleaned and am picking it up tomorrow. I also found a dress from Ann Taylor Loft with the tags still attached ~ a $98.00 dress for $28.00! I make a point to go there once or twice a week because you never know what you might find!

There's nothing quite as satisfying as a great thrift store find!

My most recent score was a brand new Nordstrom scarf with tags attached, 70% wool/30% cashmere, for $6.99. The tag said $79.99!!

Just last week I found a fantastic J. Crew wool jacket (fabric made in Scotland) that appears to be brand new and not out of date at all for...$3.99.

Are these Thrift Stores or 2nd hand stores/consignment stores? We have several 2nd hand stores in our area that only take upscale things on consignment, that is where you can find great buys.

Being the wife of a retired military man, base Thrift Stores are really good to find all sorts of things, especially when moving, children items are really found at good prices!

Truth Hoovermom. I have found amazing things at my local GW. Especially when the person who sorts/prices things does not recognize high priced labels. Terrific buys. GW more so than Salvation Army in my area. St Vincent De Paul here is generally not a mine, except for the occasional sleeper that gets thru.

I enjoy the hunt as much as the deal; maybe more so. It's easy to walk into a mall shop and find something great but much more of a thrill at auction or resale.

It was a letter of thanks for a dress she wore at The Plaza while introducing White Diamonds and 3 heart designs

I have found a Susan Graver top and some Alfred Dunner and Jones of New York clothes for $3.75 per piece! This was at our local Goodwill. I have also seen some of Isaac Mizrahi shoes. Wasn't my size. This is where I do most of my shopping due to the area we live in. Very expensive. Happy Thrifting Ladies!

My two favorites are the brown suede and black leather skirt suits I bought a couple years ago for $15 each. Like new and still fit me perfectly.

Hooty ~ My finds were all at one of our local thrift shops. All of the proceeds go to help the developmentally disabled.

I went there this morning and they had an entire set of Currier & Ives dinnerware by Royal. They were gorgeous!!! Blue & white, and must of had at least 10 place settings. They were asking $95.00 for the set ~ the last thing I need are more dishes, but if I were in the market I'd be unwrapping dishes at the moment, lol!!!

I bought a Kitchenaid blender with the stainless jar for $15.00 at the Goodwill.

Another time the 3qt. bowl with the beater, for my 6 qt. Kitchenaid mixer-$5.00,so now I have 2,my first one cost $50.00

HOOTY::: My Woolrich vest find was from a Thrift Store run by American Rescue. My kitchen is done in Tuscany and I've found many items there in excellent condition for use in décor.

There is a new large (very large) Community Aid Thrift Store located about 45 minutes from where we live. I hope to go there in the near future. They are located in a former Value City store. It's at least ten times (if not more) larger than the store in our town. I've been in it once and got a brand new summer house coat for something like $3.00. I will purchase washable items but not items that need to be dry cleaned. When I visit I'll be looking for Thanksgiving and Christmas décor items. Headquarters for this store are in PA.

I check out my local thrift shops weekly. Best find: Pendleton king size wool blanket in excellent condition for $ 5.00. Weekly check is to find afghans in excellent condition which I then wash and put aside for a church's annual bazaar. They make a lot of money with the chances folks take over the two- day picnic. Average cost to me: 4 - 6 dollars. Some of the afghans are king sized. Gorgeous colors too.
