Hey there all!

Long time reader first time poster

I've decided recently that I really want a small fireplace for my home office and was wondering if anyone has any they've recently purchased that they love?

Something small like this could be perfect, but I'm also kinda falling in love with how some of these new ethanol fireplaces look, like this one. Sounds like a little more high maintenance but could be worth it.

Advice?
I would not consider one of the ethanol fireplaces. The fuel is expensive and some say it smells bad. These electrics have a "flame" that's very realistic and just as mesmerizing as a real fire plus they give off heat to warm the room, which can be turned off. This TSV uses new technology which is supposed to be less costly to operate. I haven't even seen the ethanol fires sold in the past couple of years; the electrics are vastly superior.

Seconding what was said earlier: if you want a small fireplace, the Duraflame is a great choice. No fumes, and you can run it "fire" only (no heat) or with heat. I actually have mine in front of my gas fireplace at the moment, and when winter comes, I'll move it into my bedroom for "atmosphere." You can't beat the price and they are safe, unlike anything with an open flame.

I agree with kachina and Campion. I have both a Duraflame heater and one from ShophQ. The one from SHQ is larger and is really pretty. I like them both. I guess it just depends on what you want....size, etc.

Are you looking for something just for the ambiance, or are you wanting a heat source? The ethanol fireplace will not provide you with any real noticeable heat. Fireplaces like the Duraflame can be used to supplement your heating or just used for the ambiance.

I love my Duraflame mini-fireplace for my home office. I'm going into my third winter with it, and it's like new. Other less expensive space heaters have lasted only a year or two for me. It's a lesson in price vs. value.

I think the Duraflames are so cute and offer a very nice ambience. I do not think they give off much heat at all though. Plus, my electric bill went up exorbitantly, and I wasn't using it many hours a day.

I want one of these Duraflames (or 2, up & down stairs). Watched the presentation w/Albany earlier this morning then I googled just about every store in my town to find this one or similar of 1500watts, price, no s/h because I would drive to the store and bring it home myself.

I checked home depot, menard's, lowe's, target, big lots, Anderson's and found THIS one on the Q to be the absolute best buy right now. No one has the same wattage, no one has a remote control, NO ONE has these colors, no one has this great price with these bells & whistles and of course NO ONE has easy pay. So I must admit, this one truly appears to be the BEST BUY in town. Oh wait, I did not check Best Buy - LOL!

I have a much larger one I bought 3 years ago from Fireplaces.com. It's cinnamon with remote and free S&H, but the heater quit working last spring so I ordered a new one in turquoise. I think they'd be fantastic for people in warm climates as they can enjoy the ambiance of a fire without the heat.

Actually I think the electrics are a fine substitute for a real flame. I have a gas log fireplace with real flames but haven't used it for 4-5 years, preferring the electric stove which is warmer and has a flame that is just as mesmerizing.
