Lanterns Inside Christmas Tree

I went to our local garden center's Christmas opening this week and they had an interesting concept. They put large lanterns inside the Christmas tree. This is the only picture I could find, but the tree had five or six of these large lanterns in it, each with a different scene inside.

I like it but for me it looks old world colonial times.

Wow, they start early there, don't they. Christmas is twelve weeks away. Regarding the lanterns, you'd need a large tree for that. It might be interesting for one year but after that I'd revert to traditional ornaments.

I like the lanterns and it would definitely add interest to a large tree. They do have a lot of other ornaments on the tree as well. I enjoy looking at all the different ways to decorate the trees. Thanks for posting the pictures, Marsha.

Marsha, loving the pic & anything that has to do with giving me another reason to get another lantern, lol. How beautiful that tree is. I'm especially loving the rustic look of that lantern. I'm watching a set/3 red metal lanterns on ebay, so this post feeds right into my lantern passion. Keep the pics coming!

I wish I could have taken pictures, but my iPad had no juice. The picture I posted was taken by a local newspaper photographer. They had another tree that used black or ORB metal lanterns similar to the ones at Pier1 and those older ones from Luminara. Again, they had placed a vignette inside. I thought the whole concept was innovative. I don't know how tall the trees are, but I'm guessing at least 10 feet, maybe more.

I've seen this done for a couple of years now. I think it takes real effort to get the scale right and make it look good. I've only seen a few instances where is was really well done.

LOL. I'm used to it at QVC. I haven't seen many bricks-and-mortar stores yet that are full-on Christmas like the one in the photo. But maybe I don't shop enough.

They always open the Christmas display around the first week of October. In another building, they had the Halloween display still going strong.

Oh how lucky you are Marsha to be able to stroll thru that display each year. The closest I get to something like that is at Menards but it is nothing as spectacular as what you get to see. Then to have a Halloween building too. You are one lucky girl. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

I am planning to do a similar look on my tree this year. I am using smaller lanterns and putting Luminara candles in them. I saw one displayed that way, and I thought it looked really nice. Anxious to see if I can set it up to look the same. I have bought the lanterns and have been buying the candles a few at a time.

I would love to see a picture once you finish it, even just a section, because it's sounds like your tree is going to be beautiful.

I read about Menards in the posts here and sure wish I had access. We just have the national home improvement chains here.
