DIY Mercury Glass

For those of you that love mercury glass, here is an easy way to make your own:

You need:

Krylon Mirror Glass paint

Vinegar

Paper towels

and a glass object.

I'm going to try this!

Just FYI - I went in search of the mirror glass paint a couple of years or so ago. When I couldn't find it anywhere, I decided to try Krylon Premium Copper Foil Metallic spray paint instead because I love the look of copper. I didn't have good luck with it. I basically followed the same instructions as the video, except that I didn't try several layers, just one. I found that the paint started to dry way too fast to have time to blot the whole surface.

I noticed Walmart.com has some paint listed as ""looking glass paint"". that's what is more readily available on the sites that I checked. Looks like fun to try though.

i have seem some of my DIY blogs use this to make a new mirror look like an antique find!

this one is a kitchen backsplash from cheap $1 mirrors!

and this was done to make the chest look older. i also hate that ""brand new shiny look"" of the mirrored furniture!

I own two pieces of Mercury gla=ss. One large candle holder and a tall vase with gl=a=ss stopper both from Pottery Barn on sale right after Christmas a couple of years ago. Now I have to go back and read the article. Oh, almost forgot that I have green and red Mercury ornaments from Pottery Barn on sale last year.

I did this last winter on six or seven glass jars, vases, etc. They turned out okay but nothing like the mercury glass that Valerie sells or the kind in stores. I put tiny electric LED light strands in mine and scattered them among my Christmas/winter decor.

I used the Krylon looking glass spray paint.
