I don't get the mercury spheres!

Don't get me wrong, I adore VPH and have been watching since she started at the Q. I also collect mercury items, but I don't understand the popularity of these spheres. Just sayin..

Especially since you can buy them elsewhere for a fraction of the price. If you want a mercury sphere. Which I don't.

I put the red on my dining room table last Christmas, and they looked beautiful. These are the originals, only for indoor use, but I have since ordered the midnight, which look wonderful in my kitchen as they match the granite well, and several other colors. They add a wonderful ambience to a room.

Well, you know what sheep we humans can be sometimes, so if mercury spheres are "in" then everybody has to have them. Same with everything else, like the newest "i-gadget" that people pay big bucks to other people to stand in line for them to buy

I have a few sets of the three spheres, the larger ones from VPH. Where all are they available? I have not seen any myself, except on HSN, and the reviews indicated they were not as nice.

Good morning I have the pink, purple, and midnight. I like mine a lot, because in the evening when they come on they are so pretty and they twinkle. Give your Emmie a pat from me, and enjoy your day.

We love ours. I got the gold for inside for Holiday time last year and I have one hanging and the other two on tall candle holders and they look gorgeous and since they match our decor so well, I left mine up year round, and when they go on at night they look gorgeous!!!!!I also purchased 3 of the outside ones in Amber and they are in between our flower garden and look so nice at night when they go on. We have had a lot of our neighbors tell us how pretty it looks in the evening!!!!!

I haven't purchased them but think they are pretty. I wonder where the poster saw them at a fraction of the price??? I go to a lot of B&M stores etc and not sure I have seen any.....anywhere?

So where do we find mercury glass spheres with timers at a fraction of the price???

I have 3 different color sets.

I keep the amber color set out year-round on my fireplace hearth. They're sitting in/on top of some gorgeous pottery pots that a friend of mine makes, & they look beautiful! They're in a room that is decorated with rich earth tones, & they turn on every night when it starts to get dark. They don't look cheesy AT ALL.

I like that these twinkle. I bought a set for my niece at HSN that are also nice, but the light is constant (nothing wrong with that, I just like "twinkle".

Then at holiday time, I bring out the other colors & love that look, too.

Mercury glass spheres are either more expensive, equal in price or non-existent through all of the websites listed above. I found them for less on the auction website, but the "As Is" price on QVC is still cheaper, and you can be assured that you can return them without hassle here. I have 3 sets - cobalt, silver and midnight - and love them all. They're beautiful, set ambience, and are great decorative choices for tabletops.

I was a little late to the MG party, but have purchased a number of things this past summer. The spheres, however don't really appeal to me. I have seen lots of pics on various FB pages where people have used them in a variety of settings, and some of them are quite pretty, but I just don't care for them for my home. They tend to be to modern for me.

Now other MG, I'm getting a little crazy!

G&M--I agree with you 100%..just can't get into them and I like MG, have Christmas trees, pumpkins and an owl made from it. I think for me it's that they're just a round sphere and not a figural shape. Sounds nuts, I know. From the beginning when these were first presented and people went crazy for them, I tried to like them but there was just something that didn't appeal to me about them. Then one poster said they reminded her of an alien space ship and I thought "Bingo" that's it. LOL Just wouldn't go with my more rustic decor. For those who love them "great", but they're just not for me. Have a nice day, everyone!

Graceandmercy, I am not drawn to the spherical shape like I am to the various pedestals, for example. I also am afraid that I won't be able to make that ball shape look right with my other things, so I've been able to resist buying any of them.

It seems that many have succeeded in mixing them with their decor, so it probably only takes some creativity. I have various pedestals, two iron wall sconces with silver MG holders, and two aqua colored trees. I think that's it.

countrygal, I don't think it sounds nuts--not being figural shaped, that is.

My local Big Lots store had MG spheres not long ago. I also saw individual spheres at Pier1 for $10 each. Or go to Amazon.com and type "Mercury glass globes" in the search box. You'll find several choices through Amazon suppliers, including lighted sets, for less than QVC's $44 price for a set of three.

MG items have been pretty popular lately and really are not particularly rare or unusual.

I've seen MG spheres elsewhere that are not illuminated. I checked Pier One and they do have MG spheres but they are 4"" and do not illuminate either...They are pretty but not quite the same...

I like VPH also, but I feel that the items that she has been bringing to QVC over the past few years have resembled those found in a Michael's or dollar store! Her items are really cheap looking lately. HATE the mercury glass items (cheesy looking).
