I don't collect, but have a very precious (to me) piece that belonged to my great grandmother. I think it is very beautiful.

We have quite a large and beautiful collection. My DH and I started a while back and have some fairly rare and many gorgeous pieces.

The prices have come way down. I would call it a love and appreciation of the artistry and era..NOT an investment! LOL We haven't bought any in a while now and really should down size!

I'm not really a collector, but I do have a few beautiful pieces in the marigold color, that were inherited from my mother and mother-in-law.

I dearly love it, and I have a couple nice pieces that I really enjoy. I think as a collectible it's one of those things that has it's ups and downs.

I had a very large collection that was left to me by my mother. It never really appealed to me so I sold it 25 years ago. I sold all of it to one person and made a lot of money. The bottom has since fallen out of the market and it's relatively worthless now.

Worthless to some, but VERY prized by others. We have some family pieces that I wouldn't trade for anything, they are full of memories. I cant imagine selling them ever, or giving them away.

My grandmother left my mom a beautiful purple pitcher and my aunt a orangey color pitcher. My mom said the purple is worth more. I just knew that I wasn't to touch it!!

I know it's prized by us! We have over 30 of Fenton and Northwood carnival glass pieces...in many of the colors available...black, marigold, green, blue, red, etc...just LOVE it and always have a piece or two out for display

Yes, you are right LadyBug. My parents sold a lot of it around the same time you did. I believe they made a ton of money as well. It is worthless now. Selling for about .99 cents plus shipping on Ebay. Most people don't even consider it for .99 cents. There is no market for this anymore.

I found a lot of the pieces we acquired at estate sales. Some are rare like you have too. I find that most are just mesmerizing to look at.

I've watched many pieces on EBay going for top dollar to those who are collectors

I don't collect it but inherited quite a large collection from my MIL that she obtained during her marriage beginning in the early 40's and on for decades. So I'm aware of the prices as she got my interest in it and now that she and my FIL are deceased we want to sell it . It's too extensive and we don't have room for it and it doesn't go with our other collectibles and decor.

So I've been pricing it over the last month's. Your book sounds lovely to peruse, would love to see it. Their are so many on the subject. Enjoy it !

I have a few older pieces and many newer fenton pieces. I agree the market has crashed unless you have a rare older piece that is in high demand to a particular collector.

yes, I have a signed set I inherited from my mother. I think it's the Acorn and Burr in purple. A berry bowl with all the dishes, a water pitcher with all the glasses and sugar bowl, creamer, ?spoon holder? Unfortunately the top to the butter dish broke during one of my moves. I could kick myself for not packing it better.

The funny part is that neither of my siblings wanted it - my sister took a couple of orange candy bowl dishes.

Totally wrong to say it is "worthless" now. I collect glass, and even though I am not partial to carnival glass there are still certain pieces that go for big $$$. I don't believe I've seen any genuine carnival glass go for $.99 plus shipping. There are some pieces incorrectly referred to as carnival glass that are just vintage glass with an irridescent finish. Those might go for $.99, as they should.

My mother liked it so you could say I inherited it. However, I too took a fancy for it and collected some. When my mother in law was moving she told my hubby she had some plates in sets and it was junk. She loved me soooo much she decided it would be perfect for me. who full sets of dinnerware in carnival glass. I treasure it still today. Funny! I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and who cares the intent to hand it over to me because she was not my biggest fan. I guess the only thing I ever did to her was marry her son.

In my book, if she gave you some of the carnival glass (which I think is beautiful) she must have hid how much she really did care for you. I'm sure over time, she realized how lucky he was to have you.

My grandmother had several pieces, one of which was a footed spoonholder or spooner as they're called. I absolutely loved it.

I'm looking for something similar as I'm trying to create a coffee station in my kitchen with real coffee spoons.
