Need vacation idea

My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip. We have two airline tix from our kids, so I suppose we could go anywhere in the country. We have a few physical limitations - ie no skiing, tennis, or extreme walking. I just don't know where to go! I know that sounds crazy. I've thought of places like Nova Scotia, or maybe the Kohler resort in WI, or Napa, etc. We are only going for 4/5 days and live in the mid-Atlantic states. Thank you

What are your interests? Fishing, hunting, antiquing, relaxing by a pool, wine tasting, photography?

When are you going?

If you are on the east coast, traveling to and from Napa would eliminate 2 of your 4/5 days.

Montreal is beautiful.

Can't exactly recommend it since I've never been here before, but we're heading to Niagara Falls Canadian side soon. Come join us. I hear it makes for an awesome vacation.

We took trip to Nova Scotia 3 years ago, loved it. Toronto and Montreal are also great Canadian attractions. All very different.

I would check to see where you can fly with those tickets -- they may be limited to certain zones.

I loved Santa Fe, New Mexico when I went there. I think Napa is nice as well. I would also consider New England ie. Vermont or Maine.

The most spectacular place I've been in North America is the Canadian Rockies and Western Canada. Calgary is a good jumping off place to rent a car and drive a couple hours to Banff. From there you can drive the Icefields Parkway which is probably the most gorgeous scenery in the world with over 20 glaciers along the way and turquoise blue water in the lakes and streams. From there, you could drive West to the coast. Here's a pic I took on that route last summer

We loved Annapolis and the Baltimore area! We spent our 45th Anniversary there. Annapolis is just lovely. Do you like antiquing ? There is the wonderful Inner Harbor in Baltimore with super seafood everywhere. We had a dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak house and they even sent a car for us. It was one of the most delicious meals we've ever had. The shopping is great, the water & scenery is just spectacular. And if you like baseball, Camden Yard is right there too. Something for everyone!

If you're already living in the mid-Atlantic region, you've probably been to some of the places around here!

I can recommend Key West. We were there last month for DH's nephew's wedding, and DH and I had a lot of time to ourselves while the kids joined the "kid's group" doing water sports and such. We both like history, so we explored the Audubon House, the Hemingway House, and the Truman White House, as well as some other places. We got some great recommendations here for places to eat, and I think we managed to visit all of them! We went on a dinner cruise and a train/trolley tour. It's very laid back and relaxing there.

yellowrose recommended Niagara Falls - we've been there and we stayed on the Canadian side. It was a few years ago, so our oldest was in high school, but we had an amazing time. We had a special pass from AAA that allowed us behind the falls and gave us entrance to some other places. We really didn't have to leave our hotel. We had a spectacular view of the falls from our room. We ran into two families we knew there (!) - long school break in September, so one of them had a hotel with two restaurants and an indoor pool. We all had a great time!

If you don't want to walk a lot, you might want to think about talking to AAA or another travel agent to find an all-inclusive resort, maybe in a historic town, to just relax and unwind!

Yellowstone National Park is just gorgeous, but you'd have to go within the next month or it will be too cold. It takes at least two days to drive through the whole park and stop and see the geysers.

Personally, I'd head for the beaches in Puerto Rico. But it's getting into hurricane season so there's that to worry about.

Agree with Key West (stay on or near Duvall St). Also agree Niagara on the Lake is lovely. I could have stayed longer than an afternoon there. The heart of St, Augustine, FL was fun. What about a resort in Hilton Head? A hotel in the heart of San Antonio's River Walk? Downtown Denver is fun. Good luck -- what terrific kids you have!
