After being called so many names and all the negative things that are said it is nice to have a live and let live attitude. I get that this isn't for everyone but I have yet to understand why people can't say they aren't into and leave it at that. Why the need to name call? Anyway, thanks for your post! Refreshing!

You are most welcome and totally agree! What changes I do do for seasonal decorating, I do for myself, not for other people, it makes me feel good!

A provocative original post. Exactly why I would not respond.

It's much nicer to discuss subjects like this in more friendly threads.

I can't imagine changing out all those bowls, etc for each season. What a pain. I only add in my summer melamine plates for outdoor use, but my mixing bowls, storage containers stay the same all year.

Sounds a little "Martha Stewart-ish" to me, but I suppose some people might have fun doing that. They must have lots of storage space to do that.

I don't. I often thought it would be fun to have Fiestaware though and use colors to match the season. That wouldn't really be changing out though. There are just two of us and I'd have all the plates in the cabinet all the time. I'd just pull out the colors I wanted to use. I still might someday.

I change out my plates and mugs for the season. I have a set that I use for everyday but for the fall and holidays, I have seasonal looks. I enjoy it, it makes a nice change of scene on the table. I have a variety of bakeware that also has a seasonal look to it.

I don't change my mixing bowls or anything like that.

It all depends on what you enjoy I think.

I can't imagine me doing it. I love my Fiesta & use the colors I am in the mood for on any given day. I'd find seasonal rather limiting on a day to day basis. I would also not want that many things sitting around unused for most of the year. And I don't have much space either. That is always something to consider.

I am sure many people do switch out & have fun with it. Whatever works.

I do. I use my Fiesta from the beginning of March until the beginning of November. The first weekend in November, I pack my entire kitchen up and store the totes in the basement. Then I get out all my Winterberry stuff and display everything in the kitchen. As we get closer to Christmas, I get more Christmassy things out for the kitchen, but then after New Years, all the Christmas stuff gets put away again. I keep my Winterberry out til the beginning of March, when I get the Fiesta back out.

I have a ton of Fiesta and another ton of Winterberry, so I can do the entire kitchen in one or the other. It probably takes me two days to get it all done, but since I only do it twice a year, it's not a big deal. (I used to have some Pfaltzgraff Evening Sun dishes that I would use during the summer, but it's made in China now and it's all chipped and looks terrible. I stopped buying Winterberry when that started to be made in China, too.)

DH put a lot of shelves and storage areas in our basement, so that I have a lot of room for things.

The only thing I change for the season is my Christmas dinnerware (dinner plates, dessert plates, mugs, etc.). I set my dining room table with these items in late November through early January. I also add a Christmas centerpiece to the table.

I don't do it for every season, but I have two narrow cabinets in the dining room that store all my Christmas dishes and serving pieces. Starting the day after Thanksgiving thru the first week in January (sometimes longer), we use them exclusively. It's easy because I just get what I want from the DR, not switching out stuff and having to store my everyday dishes elsewhere.

I change out my dishes and table linens. I use one set for the warm months and a different set for the cool months. I also have a holiday set that gets used for weekend and holiday dinners from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. There's not enough of it to use every day.

I have various patterns that I mix up on a daily basis, anyway, but what I do change with the season/my mood is the tablecloth, placemats, rug, and dish towels. The stuff's stored on a laundry room shelf, which is right off the kitchen, so it's an easy and fun way to freshen the look.

I love to decorate for the Holidays. For Thanksgiving I have china/tablescapes/linens that go up during the fall months. After Thanksgiving I put my Christmas china/tablescapes/linens and keep up through the New Year's holiday. After that I put my "everyday" china/linens and whatever I wish for centerpieces. Since this everyday china is so versatile, I can change the table runner and napkins for the summer months.

Yes I do. I have several sets of china, everyday white dishes, and a set of Nantucket Basket white dishes for in between every day and more decorated. I use Portmeirion in the spring and summer, switch to something with fall colors for autumn, then at Thanksgiving out come the Christmas dishes. I always have plain white ones for every day.

I switch out which Le Creuset pot I have out on the stove very often to change up the look.

I don't use any seasonal decor in the house except some pumpkins and squash in the fall maybe and the Christmas tree and outside lights from Thanksgiving on.
