Hi JPC and Susan: I have been MIA. Working 12 hour days. UGH. I have not yet gotten my witch. When I spoke to Skyline two weeks ago, they said it would be in a week or so, but now they are saying in September. Guess they didn't get their stock in. I did have a chance to get to Pier 1 this week and they have some great pumpkins coming in that will look great with my Fall Jim Shore pieces. JPC you have to check out the HL crows that Susan showed in some of her pics. I got them the other day too and they will be perfect with my witch when she flys my way.

JPC: Not to pry but did you finally get info from the Dr.?

Glad to see that you are okay, just been busy 12 hour days, that is the makings for wearing a person out.

Sorry to hear your witch hasn't made here landing yet. That is a bummer. Hope she makes it by Halloween.

I saw a crow at JoAnns tonight. Looked for an owl but didn't like the one they had. That was one big crow. Was the one at HL big??? I was close to a HL tonight too but went to JoAnns for thread and had other running to do so didn't stop tonight. Will have to check them out next time I am close.

Haven't been to the doctor yet MTH. I go on the 19th of Aug so hopefully have some answers by then. Hoping that it isn't bad enough to do anything with yet. I had almost forgot about it since it has been so long this has been going on. thanks for asking and will let you all know when & if we find something out.

I haven't been to JoAnn's yet but Pier 1 had a really nice owl. Not sure what size you are looking for, but the P1 owl is called "natural feather owl" and is about 9" tall. He stands on his own which is nice too. I actually picked him up this week. The HL crows come in 3 sizes, 8, 10 and 12 inches and are on a base and each are in a slightly different pose. I do not see the crows on the HL website tho. Pottery Barn has some natural feather crows too if you want to check those out on the website. The owl is showing on the P1 website if you want to check it out.

Work has been a little tough but I finally got someone hired so I will have some additional help. Its been a long summer as far as working goes.

I would be very surprised if any Dr. let you go this long if your condition was needing immediate attention so keep thinking positive that all will be good.

OOPS, didn't see your earlier thread about Pier 1 owl. I was close to one of them the other night too and told Mr Crazy I should stop there but didn't need to. He asked if I was sure and I told him if I stopped I would just buy something and didn't need to.

It's a dangerous place, especially when they get new merchandise in. The owl is 9". I did get the crows too. I got all three poses that they had. SusanLouise has a pic of them on her Fall Decor Pic thread. They are mixed in with other items on top of her wall unit, but you can get a good idea of their shapes. The capiz pumpkins really look pretty but my P1 doesn't have them in yet. You should check those out too.

I always get in trouble when I go to Pier 1. They had some neat owls last year but so far, haven't gotten any. Luckily the Pier 1 I go to is about 1 hour away so don't go too often. I do have to go pick up my "poky Little Puppy quilt" soon so might have to stop and check out Pier 1. I did get their catalog but didn't look too close at it. My HL is only about 20 minutes away so make it there more. Last time I was there they were just putting out Xmas decorations so I do need to go back and see what they have this year.

I did see those crows on SL wall unit and they looked really good there. Do those have feathers??? The one I saw at JoAnns was almost as big as a real crow with feathers. Looked like a stuffed crow. Not to my liking at all.

The crows at HL do not have feathers. They are wood. You can't really see the base on Susan's pic but they are on a wood base as well. The ones I mentioned at Pottery Barn do have feathers and look more like a stuffed crow so you may not like those either. There is just something about the ones at HL I really loved when I saw SusanLouise's display. I only see 2 of the poses in Susan's arrangement but there is a third one that I found in the store.

I think I enjoyed myself a little to much last year at P1 as well. I ended up doing a second Xmas tree last year and did a woodland version with all of the P1 woodland ornaments. I also bought the P1 sitting and standing woodland reindeer last year which I keep by my fireplace.

Your 2nd Xmas tree sounds great MTH. Would love to see a picture of it. Bet you have all kinds of neat nature things on it. what fun that had to have been putting it all together. I remember those sitting and standing deer from last year.

Well, I got my JS Santa today that I was buying from a friend. It is so cute and don't think I had seen him before but guess I mostly look for Snowmen.

I will try to get a good pic of my tree this year when I get it set up. I'm sure by then I will have gotten even more ornaments.

I'm so glad you got your JS piece. That piece is absolutely adorable. I love the tree too. I don't think I have ever really looked at that piece and it is a stunner. Congrats.

Just got my musical Santa piece today too. It is really pretty and the music is nice. Wasn't sure how it would sound, but the sound quality is actually pretty good.

Was gonna try to get back over to HL today at lunch but didn't quite make it out of here. Maybe I can try on my way home tonight. They had a purple corduroy pumpkin I wanted. Should have picked it up the other day, but was so enamored with the crows, I forgot to go back and get it. Ha Ha.

That's my luck too these days but we'll see. Looks like the weather will be turning bad again this afternoon so maybe people will just stay home.

JPC: I stopped at my P1 on the way home tonight to see if they had the capiz pumpkins yet (which they did not) but wanted to tell you that they had already sold out of the owls. I couldn't believe it. I also stopped at HL and my purple corduroy pumpkin was gone too. It was a sad day. Guess I could order the capiz pumpkins online but I would love to actually see them. let me know if you get to your P1 this weekend and if you have a chance to see those pumpkins. Would love to know your thoughts on them in person.

Hey MTH,

I went to Pier 1 yesterday and checked out the capiz pumpkins. I wasn't really impressed with them, guess just not my thing. They seemed light weight and something about them didn't flip my switch. You might like them though. I did see a couple of glass ones that were orange with swirls (for a better word) running thru them and they had a black stem and were with the halloween items. Looked at them a couple of times but passed on them too since I don't need anymore pumpkins. I did pick up a couple of little owls that they had in their Xmas tree. Looked at the big owl but didn't know what I would do with him so passed on him too. So guess I got out of the store pretty cheap this time.

Picked up the pokey little puppy quilt yesterday and finished the binding on it today. Will take a picture and try to figure out photo bucket again and if I can, will share the picture of it. I have the book from when the kids were little.

Hi JPC: Thanks for checking out those P1 pumpkins. My store still doesn't have them. I'm glad I didn't order them off the website. I'll just wait and see if we end up getting any around here so I can take a look at them first. I was trying to find the orange one with the squiggly lines and the black stem you mentioned but I coulnd't find them on the website. The only ones I saw were the chevron ones but those are not glass. Too bad about the owl. I really like him. I stood him on top of another pumpkin I had so he's just perched up there watching everything going on. I think I have a few of their owl ornaments from last year. Oh well...guess we all got out cheaper this year. Just not much else to add to the collections.

I can't wait to see the quilt. Are you giving this to someone as a gift???
