How does your fridge look?

One of the first things I notice when I go into someone's kitchen is their fridge. Not so much about the color, or the size or if it is side by side or a plane jane older one, but what is on it.

My personal preference is to have nothing on the front or sides of the fridge, and only one decorative/usable piece on top (like a stack of mixing bowls that coordinate with the decor, or a pretty covered casserole in a wrought iron stand). I only want something on top that coordinates, and that I can grab and use to cook/serve.

Many folks use their fridge as a photo wall, a message center, or a display point for their kid's work and art. When my kid was little, I did post some of his stuff on the front, as well as those magnetic letters to spell with. But now that he is grown, I'm so glad to be back to the clean and uncluttered look. To me, a kitchen is cluttered and messing looking with the fridge is covered with stuff.

I have grandchildren and proudly display their artwork on the side of mine. It's a pretty happy looking sight!

Oh for heaven's sake, I should learn to proofread! That sentence was meant to read ".....kitchen is cluttered and messy looking when the fridge is covered with stuff." Well, my fridge might not be "messy" but my typing surely is!

Interesting question mominohio:

My fridge is built into my cabinets so there's no "top" to put anything on. The front has a few magnets that hold things of importance, like my grand children's artwork, stuff like that, but I regularly clear those things to make room for other things because I don't like it to look cluttered.

When my children were little I will admit that the front of our refrigerator was the catch-all place for their school work or drawings but those days are gone, now I prefer a clean and neat look.

I have white appliances - a side by side fridge and my great nephews send me art work which I put up and take a picture of to send back to them. I also keep a magnetic shopping list tablet and coupons on the door so as I realize I need to buy something I can write it on the list. I have a deep cabinet above my fridge that we are in & out of so I can't put anything on the top as it would be in the way.

I agree with the person who said the kids pictures on the fridge are a cheerful site.

I have 2 grandchildren so I have a couple of photos of them and some Art Work of theirs on mine. On the top I have a Beautiful Bowl. It is not overdone because then it can look sloppy, but I am proud of my grandchildren and its an excelent place to display some of their pictures and they are always so proud when they come over and see it on my refrigerator!!!!!!!!!

Just my dh & I now. If/when grandchildren come along I'm sure my frig will be cluttered with their artwork!

Nothing on my fridge. I have a small built in desk space in my kitchen for all that stuff. A+papers go on the fridge though

My fridge is built in (no room on top of it) and the door/side is made of wood. I haven't even tried to stick a fridge magnet on it. We used to have a white fridge, covered in decor magnets, magnets from pizza places with their phone numbers, and all the notes etc that get stuck on fridges. But I'm enjoying the clutterfree look now.

My refrigerator is built-in with front panels that match the cabinetry, so nothing on top or the side or the front.

MominOh, interesting thread. I have three pretty woven baskets on top of my fridge. They are deep enough that you can't see into them. I throw my bills etc in one,junk mail in another and photos and notes I somehow accumulate in the other. It looks neat up there and keeps things a little organized til I have time to sort it. I, too, like the look of a clean front on it. My daughter has magnets and photos all over her fridge and I think it looks junky.

I have a built-in wine rack above my refrigerator, so there's not room for much on top of it. I do store a folding bed-tray on top of the fridge in the space below the wine rack. I have three or four decorative magnets stuck on the front of the refrigerator. We tend to stick up cartoons, sayings, or "funnies" we find, photos of family or friends we get in the mail, etc. But we don't put up a lot at one time. No kids in the house and no grandkids yet, so we don't have kiddie art there. I'd rate ours as "minor, ever-changing display area".

i hate a cluttered fridge also!!!! my appliances are all black and i like to keep them clean and shiny! the only things on my fridge are - my "stainless steel" letters/numbers that i DIY painted,new orleans saints football schedule/highschool football schedule and a dry erase board for messages. you can't see the sides because of the wall on one side and cabinets/counter on the other. on top - two large glass meloni jars.

Fridge is also built into my cabinet. There is nothing on the front of mine. I keep it pretty uncluttered I have a bulletin board in my kitchen where art work from my daughter is displayed as well as pictures of her or other family members.

My daughter gave me a magnetic calendar with pockets for coupons and appoints and others I keep it on the side of the fridge.

My fridge is built into the cabinets, so I can not put anything on top. Also, it is stainless steel and is not magnetic. I do have some important reminders and coupons taped to the front right now, but soon it will be back to a clean front. My Mom collects magnets and her fridge is covered in magnets -- the front and the sides. Looks awful junky to me, but she likes it.

Have this big 28cubic ft. Samsung it is really tall so there is nothing on top of mine. I think I am shrinking I can't reach the top so when I want to clean the top of it I hand the cloth to someone in my family and ask them to please clean the top. I have a tiny magnetic flash light on the one side that is all.
