Harry Slatkin

I have to give Cudos to Harry Slatkin for almost always showing up and presenting on air in person for most presentations, as others usually only do so by remote. Many of the others only usually show for new season offerings, or have different people presenting in their place.

Yes, you may give him "kudos" for appearing live for most of his presentations. This gives him time to "flit about". 😂

I wanted to love his candles but couldn't smell the. Will stick with Bath & Body Works.

I prefer Bath & Body Works over his too. Picked up a few today at 12.95 for a 3-wick.

Have been ordering Goose Creek for a change of pace and really happy with those too.

@stevieb Me too plus an hour of watching candles burn is less exciting than watching paint dry. When the candles appear, my tv goes off.

I don't mind watching the Slatkin shows. However, buying candles that I cannot smell despite the description of the aromas, is guess work for me. I have bought the candles and some do not have an aroma while others do. I remember many years ago when his candles were sold at Bath and Body works , I bought more then because I could smell the scent. I do like the glass containers that the candles are in now,so pretty and useful.

I like Harry. He has a great sense of humor and just comes across as a funny, happy person. I have my favorite scents of his candles and like to see what new products he brings in. I also enjoy the stories that go along with the scents.

Aren't burning candles bad for your pets? I thought I read that somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I love to burn candles but I won't. We have two dogs and I don't want to harm them.

@Linda0215 --Yes they are not good for animals especially the plug in scents!! Had a cat get vey sick from that mistake--took me a week of daily trips to the vet and many hundreds of $$ to finally figure it out!! As soon as I took that out of the outlet and aired out my livingroom--she recovered within a day or so. Am not a fan of any burning candle either---threw mine away years ago.

@wagirl Thank you for confirming my fear. I'd hate to do anything to the pups. Bet you were frantic trying to figure out what was going on with your cat!

I don't watch him anymore. I did buy some Slatkin wicks and was unimpressed.

I quit burning candles years ago, soot on walls. I use wax melts. I'll melt candles sometimes. I just don't light them. I used to love Gold Canyon Candles.

@Linda0215 --I was pretty upset!! Everyday I took her to the vet for about 5 days for IVs to re-hydrate her--she refused to eat or drink and was a limp dishrag---had all sorts of bloodwork and just plain stymied the vet. Went home the last day of those 5 and my DD found on the web--strictly by happenstance---this article about those plug in scents and pets!!! Lightbulb moment!!! She recovered nicely and was just fine.

He is not very truthful in his presentations, he tells you that in his soaps he has gotten rid of all the nasty ingredients, so not true.

@wagirl I'm so glad to hear she recovered just fine. It's so stressful when they aren't feeling well because they can't tell us what's wrong! Somehow when our pets are sick the anxiety for us increases ten-fold!

I knew candles were not good for birds. Did not know they affect cats and dogs. I know someone with dogs who uses candles and plugins all the time and there are no issues. What are signs it would affect a dog? Are larger dogs not as affected?

I have always burned candles and use plug ins.

I have had 2 cats that lived past 20

And numerous dogs of all sizes with super long lives. Our Puggle lived to 17 !

@Kachina624 So agree. An hour (or more) of watching a candle burn is just laughable. I'm also not a big home scents person. More times than not they just irritate my sinuses...
