VANCOUVER KITCHEN

It's in a Tudor Revival house in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Think it's interesting that the surge in wine and burgundy colors that we've seen in both fashion and home decor, is showing up in kitchens now. That deep wine colored island is "Sommelier" by Sherwin Williams. The off-white cabinets are "Vapor", by Benjamin Moore.

With that deep red island, I think they could have gone with an even more creamy shade on the cabinets, and it would have been very enhancing. Love the glass-fronted cabinets near the ceiling, the striking lantern pendants, the coordinating Asian runners.

That Calacatta Viola marble picks up the deep rosy tones of the island. It's got a lot of 'movement', but I'd never get tired of it, unlike busy ceramic tile backsplashes...

My favorite space in this house might be this hallway, with its delicate chandelier and handsome millwork--

Graceful, hand-carved banister--

A peek at the living room, which has a flavor of nostalgia. I'd have a few flame-colored or magenta pillows, just to bring some zing...

It's one of those nicely built, stately houses that has a lot to offer, but that to me, just needs a few tweaks to temper the formality....

This house gives such a warm, comfy and cozy feeling. There are 2 things that I'm not fond of, the marble counter top and backsplash in the kitchen as well as the marble on the fireplace. Thank you @Oznell!

Exactly, it's cozy to me too, @LIndaMJ , just needs a few lively tweaks. Oh, I agree about the marble mantel in the living room, @LIndaMJ . It seems too "forbidding" for the space...

What an attractive kitchen and in such a fabulous city! I love the material and design of the countertop, but I wonder if they will 'lose' things on the counter. I never gave that a thought until I had my counters done-I lose things on it constantly and need to run my hands over it to know if it is need of cleaning! LOL! I would definitely add color to the sitting room, it needs some color to warm it up. And I really do not like those draperies at all. And I think colorful florals would go a long way in helping things in the rooms.

This is another one that's not my style. Overall, I like it but there would be a lot of tweaking to make it livable for me. For instance, while I like the marble pattern in the kitchen, I probably would have chosen something not quite so bold.

I like the home, but it too formal for me. I like mre relaxed and cozy environment. I also find the back splash and the counter top on the island too busy as well.

I love the kitchen space, color of the cabinets and the size of the island. I don't care for the light fixtures, hood over the range or the busy marble counters and backsplash.

Beautiful home. Not a huge fan of the stone in the kitchen. Stone that has a lot of movement always looks angry to me.

It's ok ---but I do not like the stone in the kitchen at all!! the wine island is a nice touch tho--haven't seen that before and again--too much with the white or cream --

I would have chosen a countertop/backsplash with more white and less black. It stands out too much for me and takes over the room.

I would prefer the fireplace in stone or brick.

Pretty house and a few tweaks would make me like it a lot more.

Pretty home! The chandelier, windows, the beautiful archway are eye catchers. I am not a fan of the furnishings, I would definitely change the style and add some prints. With some changes, the rooms would have more appeal and be formal and comfortable.

The colors in the kitchen are not to my taste and that kitchen countertop has got to go. It hurt my eyes. The rest of the house gets a "meh' from me. It's ok, just not particularly what I like.

The hallway is nice. Really like the umbrella stand/holder. It looks like copper and brass.

While looking at some forum threads, I came across similar patterns from two unrelated threads. Wanted to share the findings, because why should I be the only one to have nightmares tonight.

Am talking about the marble patterns in the kitchen and fireplace in this thread, and the shirt pattern in the PRETTY BRASS thread.

And as luck would have it, QVC has a nice cheese board that looks like it would pair well with the marble and shirt patterns, item #K59966, RSVP White Marble Cheese Board Set.
