things to do when planning a move---😬

Am moving by the end of this month--have movers lined up , rented a storage unit, for over flow--- and have been moving bits and pieces on the weekends to the new place---but still more to pack up--got the garage looking beautiful--all things labeled where they go and stacked. even got a truly great deal on the movers via my DB--still a lot of $$-🫤--now I have been on the phone,for many hours these last weeks taking care of renters ins, power started in new place, and yesterday was on the phone nearly 45 minutes cancelling Xfinity and having to listen to the spiel reasons NOT to quit---dear gawd LADY--- just cancel the dang thing---found out the plan I have now--is no longer available an that the "new" plan was bumped up to $198 a month this month!!!! But she could get that down to $181 a month--I pay $185 now!!! Just for cable and internet--no streaming no fancy channels--our cell phones are also Xfinity and if we stay with them--there's another $50 each month---we pay $60 now for 2 lines--would be $110 plus the BS fees!!!! But finally got all that done----Xfinity is run by the devil--am sure!!!

I wonder if I'll be able to get a landline by the time we move. The thought of all those changes would scare me. Heck, going to the DMV to change my driver's license would throw me for a loop!

We used Comcast/Xfinity for a while, and you couldn't PAY me to ever use their so-called "services" again!!!

Yes. Have no doubt. It's a fact.

Xfinity must be some kind of anagram. I just haven't figured it out yet.

I suspect it's the same thing I've said about Verizon, too. It's why we switched our phones to Xfinity.

I think Xfinity is a racket, too, BUT, I switched my ATT cell service to Xfinity and my first bill is 12.91. This is for a year. I will say my cable/internet bill is high, but it's only been out a few times in 30 years. We no longer go out a lot, spending at concerts and shows, so it IS our entertainment.

Many I hear are disgusted with Verizon, as they took a local channel away that broadcast many NFL games.

@wagirl Getting close on your final move. Yay! Make sure you check any addresses changes for your paperless accts. Somehow when I moved last year an account didn't get updated, and then had a slight issue. I also know for a fact USPS did not forward for a year as they stated, as many got returned mail a few months in. (Christmas cards and packages in 2024).

I actually filled a complaint with the FCC about Xfinity. They tried to do the old bait and switch with me one month after I moved here. FCC called me to investigate then contacted Xfinity. A British guy from Xfinity followed up with me.(I know it's hard to believe but there is at least one person who works there that speaks proper English). 😁

Long story short, they ended up giving me what was promised, and more. Of course they would not do anything until the FCC was involved. Hate them.

already did the change of address--when I did this before, had no issues with the address change---all my bills are online so not too worried about that right now. When I get to the new place, I will have someone come to hook up cable and internet--am thinking about Ziply as well as changing our cell service. Need to return the router and boxes to Xfinity too--think I've covered my bases. You should see my apt today---looks like a bomb went off!!! and why is everything I pack so freaking heavy!!!!!!

I have found it easier to deal with Xfinity in person, @wagirl, especially the one near a See's 😋

Do you know where all of the furniture will go?

Movers are outrageously priced 🤑

@tansy ---I LOVE See's--and no, the Xfinity store closest to me is next to Target.

All furniture is going to new apt except for a large desk and my big dining table and chairs--they are going to storage. Or do you mean where am I going to place it at the new place.--Haven't figured that out yet-- got a pretty good price for moving the garage I rent here for storage, to the new storage unit--then the big apt move towards the end of the month and then having peeps come in and pack up my kitchen----$2800-- but then that is due to my DB and his buddy that has a moving commpany--got a good deal because I am family. The other movers I checked wanted $4500!!! Still alot of $$ but couldn't do it any other way. Doesn't include the stay at the local looney bin---that I can see in my future!!!!🤪😱

I have been spending quite a bit of time this week at the VEG animal hospital in Redmond. While I've been waiting for test results for my grandpup, I've been walking around town.

What a great place! Except ... I'm used to a town with something like 3 restaurants. I would gain 100 pounds if I was near all that good food every day.

@juanitalinda --I know!! I lived in Redmond from 1975-1986 and then moved to Woodinville. Back then it was pretty much a one horse town. It's a metropolis now!! Yes am loving all the places to eat and shop plus easy transit and light rail and fantastic for grocery shopping too. DD works there now and her commute will be----15 minutes to walk or 5 on the bus!!! We don't have cars so walking is how we will NOT gain 100 lbs---maybe--😜

Moving is so much work, but you're making good progress. It won't be long now before you're settling in.

Agree about Comcast/Xfinity. They raise our prices regularly while cutting down our services. HATE them! But the options all have problems, too.

I walked into the cable TV store once carrying all my equipment.........this was a while ago. They pitched a fit when I wanted to cancel and sent me to see a gentleman on the other side of the room who gave me a really good deal for a year if I would stay with them. I think going in person sometimes might make a difference.

@wagirl Good luck on the move and I had a similar experience with SPECTRUM when I cancelled...it was horrible....one person hung up on me when I would not keep the service...I had to call two more times to get the job done......I was furious. We went with FRONTIER and currently saving $90,00/month.

@Mom2Dogs ---I will be saving at least $200 by switching from Xfinity--and that is including the cells--found out that cell phone service isn't provided by Ziply so will have to find another carrier---

@taquito --MOVING--part 1--happens tomorrow at 9am. That's when the stuff in the garage I rent here, at my currant place, will be moved--part to a storage unit and part to the new place. Have some big pieces in my apt now that hopefully they can move too. We have no space anywhere in this place, to actually put the boxes-- so with these pieces gone, we have some space.

Yep---Xfinity is the devil !!!!!
