Congratulations. When my trusty Kenmore died a couple of years ago after many years of service, I replaced it with a Speed Queen. I've been very happy with it.

I am jealous but so happy for you. I made the mistake of buying a Whirlpool. And am patiently waiting for something to go wrong. I suspect I won't have too long of a wait.

Honestly can not believe that someone designed and put that appliance on the market. On occasion I will take the dirty clothes to the laundromat rather than use my Whirlpool washer. The laundromat has Speed Queen.

We have the SQ TR7 and have no complaints whatsover. If it lasts as long as my Fisher & Paykel (19 years!), I will be more than happy.

If you have a chance to look at Consumer Reports they rate washing machines.

SQ top loaders are rated in the 60's. Front load SQ is rated in the 70's.

There are 3 SQ washers rated as 84. The prices range from $1800.00 to $2100.00.

They aren't as good as they used to be and are pricey.

@drizzellla I have an LG front load washer that is from 2012 and fingers crossed it's still working great!

However I had a whirlpool dishwasher that was terrible from day one. It had lots of annoying things happen to it not to mention the little pieces of plastic that kept breaking off. We replaced it after 8 years or so with a Miele dishwasher which works very well!

@fthunt Yes, when we moved a few years ago we were delighted to get rid of our old Kenmore/Whirlpool. I am short and sometimes I would think I couldn't get the sheets even out of the machine. We were looking for a washer when we found this house.

I'll add to that our old house didn't have room for some of the bigger top loaders or a front loader because of the placement of the door to the garage. This house has a laundry room--a blessing to us for sure.

SO, we switched to LG front loader and 8 years later it is still going. I can't say how much I hated that old washer!!!! But whatever you decide I hope and pray it doesn't knot those clothes! I know about that!!!!!

The W smashed your expensive garments - shut down if asked for more water -

Salesman says Maytag now made by whirlpool.....so SQ only way to go.

I had a 35+ year old Maytag. It developed a small leak (teaspoon but afraid it would only get worse). So that is exactly why I bought a Whirlpool because Maytag is now made by Whirlpool.

The 2 washers are WORLDS apart. Seems like Whirlpool kept none of the excellent features of the Maytag washer.

We has a GE, purchased by the BF, who rarely reads reviews. It lasted a month before the circut board went out. Took over a month to get it fixed. Gave it to a friend and purchased an LG. I was so steamed when he inisited that we had to buy a "set" . The new GE dryer is definitely not as good as the dryer that went with the previous washing machine.

don't buy a GE washer. I purchased mine a month ago. The first machine was a dud and they replaced it the first week. The second one came and was making loud noises. The guy came and the drain pump was bad. They put in a new drain pump and after a week this one started making noise. I am currently waiting for another drain pump. The matching dryer I just bought ? Well the start button cracked. Ok what the heck? I am so annoyed. I had a whirlpool for 20 yrs with never a prob. Sick of the constant rip off.

Our he washer wasn't even 6 years an transmission was shot someone else we know had the same problem with his he washer. Love the speed Queen washer alot better than the ge washer. 25 minutes shorter and clothes are still clean.

My former Whirlpool washer lasted me 25 years and dryer lasted 32, cant complain !!

but I did have 2 Whirlpool microwaves that died in no time.

I just checked online and found out you should dilute the fabric softener. This is from a trouble shooting site.

Spots on clothes from a Speed Queen TR7 washer are often caused by fabric softener or detergent residue, or oil from the machine's components. To fix this, clean the dispenser and tub, dilute fabric softener, use the correct wash cycle (avoiding "Eco"), and consider a hot, empty maintenance wash with a dishwasher tablet or vinegar to remove buildup.
