I'm not a fan of cordless vacuums---they don't seem to have the punch a corded one does---I have a Shark Rotator corded vacuum that does great on my carpets--I don't know about Dyson--way too much $$ for me. Think I got mine at Best Buy, about 10 years ago now, for under $200. a cordless would be good for hard surfaces tho--

We have both. We use a plug in Dyson for our main level. Definitely picks up dog hair and dirt better than the Shark. We got tired of lugging the heavy Dyson downstairs, and it's not easy to vacuum steps with it. We bought a cordless Shark for vacuuming the stairs down to the basement and for using on the carpet down there. The Shark does a good job, but it's not as good as the Dyson. That's our experience.

I love my Shark vacuums! I have both the corded and cordless. Both work great! While I've never had a Dyson, during my 51 years of marriage, I've had every other expensive vacuum there is. None of them were as good as my Sharks! If I have to replace them, so be it. They didn't cost me a fortune to buy!😅

I actually have both brands.

With Shark I have a corded vacuum that I keep in our basement. It has a light

which is nice and it runs well.

I have two cordless Dysons. I have already replaced a battery in one of the Dysons.

For the high price you pay wish it came with an extra battery. With the cordless I

am constantly emptying the canister. We have two long-haired Goldens. It

fills very quickly for a small canister.

I own both, but not cordless varieties, which just never seem to have what it takes, although it's been a while since I tried one. My Dyson is the heavy yellow original and it's the best vacuum I've owned. My Shark Rocket is a very good machine too, easier to use and navigate, but not as effective on some rugs.
