A FEW WARM WEATHER VIGNETTES

It's fun when indoor and outdoor spaces reflect the current season, in one way or another--

Lots of color, woven rattan, and another of my favorite

summer motifs, a froggie, serving as a whimsical planter--

Love the simplicity of a sky blue and white bedroom, with fresh ticking on the pillows, and a night table bouquet--

Not a large outdoor space, but nicely laid out for a relaxing lemonade interlude-- love the little lanterns and gilt mirror...

Beautiful painted Italian pottery that features a different animal on each plate, a burst of citrus-y flowers...

Summer vignettes can be neutral too. "Town-n-country" has a mantel painted in B. Moore's "Wrought Iron", making a cool contrast with her "White Dove" walls. I like it when a soothing repetition occurs on mantels, like her piling on one of all the same thing-- her white ironstone pitchers. Her plants, and casual vintage lidded baskets, reinforce a warm weather feeling...

Her jade plant looks like a little tree...

Exotic. Feels like a stuccoed balcony, maybe somewhere outside of the U.S.?

This below wasn't touted as a warm weather space, but struck me as so. Jessica Alba's original office and lobby, when she had her Honest Company, was a cool space reflecting her affinity for midcentury modern design--

Absolutely love her retro mirrored lamps! The window box style planter, glimpse of red brick on the right, and ladder magazine holder bring the outdoors...

I'd love a pink desk....

Mmmm, this is maybe my favorite outdoor space--

"The Inspired Room" has a subtle coastal feeling throughout her house, with calming blues, whites, stripes, and seascapes ....

Her flowery navy Staffordshire dogs are the cutest--

Darling shutters, and "haint blue" ceilinged porch--

Another sweet bedroom--

This room is imposing, b/c of the high ceilings, yet feels comfy to me. I love the way they pulled the blue and terra cotta colors of the Imari pottery out into the room's furnishings. Cantaloupe shade here really spells summer fun!

I love those outside spaces! Gorgeous and somewhere I would love to spend time. Love the frog planter, a dear friend of mine loved frogs so much, I think of her instantly when I see one.

Could you be a bit more specific, @qvcprinces ? Not sure if you are referring to frog planters, or something else in the thread?

@We rescue cats , oh, yeah, I'm right with your friend about frog planters! Even though I don't have any. I do have two small, silly lounging green ceramic frogs, which I bring out in the summer. One of them is identical to this image I found online-

Have you ever seen the Jean Roger frog planters? He was a French guy, I think, who designed a line of them, that became wildly popular, but are absurdly expensive. They come in all colors, have hobnails and serious expressions--

I know, @piperbay , I have a terrible weakness for Staffordshires ( only have one) and hers are SO cute!

All of the vignettes are appealing, both outdoor and indoor. I love decorating with vignettes on tables and different parts of a house. The flowers are beautiful and fill the areas with color and brightness. I admire the Italian pottery plates! The decorated area in the number 5 photo is so pretty , the mantel, chair, plant, everything blends! The porch in number 14 looks so comfortable and cozy and I would relax and read in that area!. All in all everything is eye catching and well put together, lovely decor inside and out!!!!!!

I love every single one of them. I have outdoor metal (which has oxidized to an aqua blue) frog, had it for many years. I have Staffordshire dogs in my bookcase that I have had from a tag sale for a very long time. I once had a screened porch with swings on either end, a ceiling fan on either end. This reminded me of it so very much that the nostalgia almost overcame me, just very laid back and vintage with surround outside of short-leaf pinetrees, camelias and azaleas which were so deightful year-round. I think the fans must have kept the mosquitoes away. Not sure what but we never had mosquitoes with all the vegetation we had and a creek right off our property.

Mmmm, @Nonametoday , romantic camellias and azaleas, that reminds me so much of New Orleans when I lived there. Am thinking that camellias can't really be grown outside of the South, or am I mistaken?

@house_cat , I don't know where that checked duvet came from, but it looks like the one from Quince is similar-

"Classic Organic Percale Gingham Duvet Cover"

The blue color in that is "Blue Fog".

But you could probably find other examples by googling 'checked duvet cover'.

I don't think that camellias or azaleas can live outside the South but the azaleas have a cousin that can, and I can't recall what they are but I do remember that they are hardier than azaleas but as beautiful or even more so. I have some camellias in my garden now but just not as well planned as those in that garden which was laid out by my mother who was an expert at that kind of thing.

Nice vignette. Really like the combination of all the colors in the scene combined with the aqua color (glass vases and table).

That's it. Rhododendren. They are cousin to azalea and they look just like azalea but they are more winter-hardy. Thank you, Oznell. My brain has taken a sabbatical.
