SKI COUNTRY BEDROOM

It's in a classic 60's era A-frame, that the owners commendably kept, but just freshened up. Not everyone cares for dramatic A-frame, but in this case, there's plenty of room without fear of constant head-bumping.

In this close up of the black steel fireplace, you can get a better sense of the ample head room.

Nice example of "soft modern" design, that has comfort as well as drama. I like the shape of the tub chair, but would not have upholstered in white boucle, which is certainly cuddly, but hard to maintain and a trend that came and went rather quickly. Velvet couch is beautiful.

The graphic shape of the windows echoes the shape of the mountain outside so pleasingly. Funny that the doors have shades, but no covering visible on the windows?

I've always liked a nicely done A-Frame, but along more 'woodsy' lines, not 'sterile-modern', as is this one.

I love it. I really like a spacious A Frame...even a small cozy A Frame is appealing to me.

As long as the roof is high enough and you are not hitting your head ...I am all in.

Very pretty, although it comes off as a bit "cold" to me, even with that terrific fireplace.

I wouldn't want the soot and ash from a wood burning fireplace on white carpet. Not safe and impossible to keep clean.

I like it a lot. There's a couple of things I'd swap out and replace and I'd add a touch more color but, overall, it feels very comfortable and cozy.

That's one beautiful space, but the woodstove is a deal-breaker.

Not comfortable having a stove near all that pale carpet and wood. I may be wrong, but wouldn't that steel get hot?

It seems to be in the way. I'd be bouncing off of it daily.

Yes, it's beautiful. We had an A-Frame once. The only thing about the loft was you couldn't put a door on it. So we made it our library and lined each side with bookcases. It was my favorite room.

That's funny-- I didn't think of the practicalities of the stove/ fireplace, so smitten was I with the overall aesthetic and coziness. I'm sure that these people must have a way of handling it

@Buffalogal47 , good questions! There are three levels, I think they said. Some of the areas of the house are a little modern for my taste, but the bedroom is superb.

This architectural firm, Rowland and Broughton, seem to specialize in designing beautiful Aspen properties-- this A-frame is one of their smaller projects.

See how they added dormers to increase the headroom on the top floor?

See, even in a den, this is too much black for me. But it is well done.

Way too much black for my personal taste! But the kitchen and sitting area do have beautiful box panel-style light wood ceilings...

@Oznell I agree about the amount of black but a new paint job could take care of that. Modern decor is cold and featureless. I would decorate it differently. But all in all, it would be a lovely place to live year round.

It's lovely but no to the real wood burning stove. Fake logs would keep the ambience and keep it clean and safe.

I did ski for a few years, I was truly terrible at it. Never liked it at all. A long, long time ago, with a boyfriend that loved to ski. A few trips to Colorado and Montana, and the best part of the day, was when we finished for the day. Two days I skated, and skipped the slopes! Give me the hot tub and the chalet with a good book. 😉

@Buffalogal47 , I've been on a ski house kick lately, and I found a living room in another house that I think is much more compatible with this bedroom. I'll post a thread showing it!

@lynnie61 , me too, hot cocoa in front of the fire in a cozy lodge is the scenario for me!

Aside from the lovely view, I do not care for this bedroom. It is too blah and cold, it needs to be warmed up, more color and coziness.
