SALES AT BIG LOTS

Was a bit surprised that with the closing of ( most, many?) of its stores, Big Lots seems to be doing a clearance of only up to 30% off on many items. At least, at the two stores I visited.

Be that as it may, found a few things at good prices. They have a very "mixed" selection of throw pillows, high and low, but if you get in there and look, you can find really nice ones, greatly reduced anyway, but then marked down again with the new sale, too.

I found a down-filled skinny lumbar pillow from Casa Decor, luxuriously "slouchy" and with a set-in zipper, etc., for about 7 or 8 dollars, way reduced. They have regular square size ones too, like 20" by 20", also down-filled.

My favorites were the stylish geometric design 'velvet burnout' ones. My lumbar pillow happens to be rose colored, but they have them in a choice of colors, like navy, I think, or silvery gray, as well as rose--

Another area I always check out is their kitchen ware-- they have nice ceramic platters, pitchers, canisters, bowls of all shapes and sizes, for low prices. Got a cute hobnail ( have a thing for hobnail anything) gravy boat--

This picture was the closest online one I could find, but it doesn't look quite right, my hobnails are the round ones--

Last year I got this with hobnails just on the rim, and I think this one may still be in the store also--

Yes, I have two gravy boats now, but they stack! And you can use them for so many things. I use also for a spoon rest on the stove, b/c the spoon won't flip out if you accidentally bump it...

Also, cutting and bread boards-- the monogrammed ones were handsome, ceramic planters, big and small, welcome mats.... they had a good selection of mats.

Very cute butter dish in the shape of a kitty, that I resisted.

Plus candles at good prices, vases, lots of modern ones, candlesticks, on and on.

Anyway, might be worth checking before they close.

@Oznell I didn't know Big Lots was going out of business.

I love your picks.

I kinda have a throw pillow problem (especially the down filled ones) and my husband may divorce me if I stack anymore up on our bed and couches. haha, But it won't hurt to look.

I also love hobnail.....

Yeah I have been getting emails and postcards in my mailbox about it. I think as they get closer to closing they may discount more. I may run in there on my lunch break. I too need another throw pillow like I need a hole in my head, but I do need a nice lumbar pillow. Hope stuff isn't picked over too bad yet.

The only store within driving distance for me closed without any notice; a friend went drove there when she heard they were closing and the doors were locked and the building was empty; am guessing they moved all the inventory to another store somewhere.

Kohl's is closing a store near me in April; the only one in my end of town; it never has many cars in the parking lot when I drive by. They also have the closest Amazon return kiosk, so hope that moves somewhere close by.

They were on the news a couple of nights ago.

They have been bought out by Gordon Brothers and will now keep hundreds of stores open.

Mine went out of business around the same time that all Rite Aid stores in Michigan closed a few months ago.

We now have an Ollie's Bargain Outlet in place of Big Lots.

Ours opened 2 years ago and closed 2 months ago. No sales, no nothing. Gone.

Very sad. I shopped there all the time and found all sorts of interesting things. And paper towels were priced the best of any place I found.

Big Lots closed here several years ago. I used to like to go and poke around at all the stuff.

At Big Lots always good to look around. I got emails but none recently. Curious to see if my local store stays open. I'm trying to be on a no buy for a few months, but I did buy two heavy duty pop it racks for the basement storage.

No other Q shopping and need to stay out of Home goods, TJM, and Marshall's. Getting my pantry and freezer to a better lower inventory, so really just need dairy, produce, bread for a while.

Do you have a UPS near you? If so, you can return Amazon and QVC items there. I do it all the time.

You really hit the jackpot. Great items. I love hobnail milk glass.

Ours has already closed and there was nothing there that I wanted except some staple items for the kitchen, Glad Wrap, paper towel, etc.
