Love this "non-cookie-cutter" kitchen designed by Liz Williams. The soft green grabbed my attention, since it is what we have in ours. It looks very pretty here with the rich dark woods...

The color-coordinated banded pendant lights are a clever touch--

A serene, timeless feeling continues in the dining room--

Pretty, antique painted chairs--

The soft colors and restful feeling are also a theme in the living room. Weathered European antiques, and gorgeous rug...

Adore the faded Swedish clock!

She weaves the very refined elements in with charmingly rustic ones. Even the simple bottle collection enhances the ethereal atmosphere....

Like the other rooms, this traditional, but rather spare bedroom, has a magical quality-- like it was lifted from a remote, fairy-tale European dwelling at the edge of a forest...

Very nice I like it.

I watched Unsellable Houses on HGTV last week and the twins put pink and green in a kitchen. When they mentioned they were going to do that I didnt think it would look good, but it looked fantastic. The pink & green were not bold colors, and there was not much pink.

I love the soft green color, it makes the room special. I don't like open cupboards nor the fabric lampshades, only because I don't like the idea of the cooking oils and/or aromas settling on the fabric and/or the open shelving. I really like the way the 'dishe' wall decor mimics the design on the chairs! Very inclusive. Over all I like the color and decor, it's interesting!

I love these pics! - Not too much "clutter" at all, for a change.

The only thing I would change, would be that shade of green - I'm not keen on "pastels," so I'd go for something at least a shade deeper.

@Oznell Oh my what a gorgeous and peaceful home. I love how "clean" it appears with not a touch of clutter to be seen. Oh how I long for that.

The color of the cabinets are so unique and special and I love them so much.

The whole house has a nice flow from room to room, which you don't often find and I think a lot of it has to do with the beautiful colors used throughout the house. I just adore the pastel, dusty aqua on the walls. I'm a big fan of that color.

The dining room is so lovely. I love when plates are used as art. That Swedish clock is great and I love the opulent looking cream drapes next to it in that room.

The "fairytale bedroom" is absolutely dreamy. I love everything about it especially the viney chandelier and you nailed it with your desciption, it does so look like a "remote, fairy-tale European dwelling at the edge of a forest...

The yard is also amazing. A fireplace next to a pool in the woods, not much better than that.

I like the kitchen cupboards, the kitchen light fixtures, & the kitchen table. But that dining room reminds me of one I'd see in an assisted living facility.

I love every room Love the colors and design, so peaceful.

When remodeling I used the 3 pendant lights but across the kitchen table vs island.

What a great look and practical too. Nice drapes on the slider behind it as a great back drop.

I always feel like the Debbie Downer of the Home message board because I don't like most rooms/homes that are posted. This is no exception. Green is one of my least favorite colors....especially in a pastel mint tone so the kitchen isn't for me. The rich wood looks very nice with it though.

The rest of the house is a little too vanilla for me nor do I care for most of the furnishings that were chosen. The dining room is my least favorite room.

I do appreciate the simple, non-cluttered look and feel of each of these rooms though and the outside fireplace is nice.

And, as always, I do very much appreciate Oznell and everyone else who posts these. They're fun to look at and to read the comments on why/why not people like the room(s).

I dislike the green color, but even if I could paint it all cream I'd think the way it is that it is a very cold and sterile look. I do like the dining chairs a lot!

It just isn't my cup of tea.

I'm sure your comments are appreciated as much as those that fawn over the pictures (which is what I usually do! haha).

Like you, I'm not a fan of green. I do like this soft, pastel kitchen however.

I don't like the 50's hospital green cabinets.

In one photo there are the green cabinets, a warm-tone beige stone backsplash, a speckled stone countertop in black or blue with ? white, and a warm wood-topped island.

The green is a cool color and I don't think it works with the warm backsplash and warm woods.

@Oznell , love this house! I agree about the open shelving and about the fabric shades. Not for me. Especially in the kitchen. Most of our task lighting in the kitchen is pot lights. We learned from experience not to go there!

Oh boy, you all have raised so many interesting things-- I will try to hit on just a few--

When I first saw the pendant, I was curious as to whether they were indeed fabric, or whether they are a rigid surface, like opaque glass or something. In the second picture, the rims look like they could be molded, of something hard. I decided they are most probably fabric, but....

@GingerHead , you always highlight the things that I love the most, and often ones that few other people here do, like porcelain on a wall, and dusty, "off" pastel colors, etc.

Like you, I was also thinking as I looked, at how "clean" it was, (esp. for a traditional house) with no excess of objects-- yet it didn't have that barren feel of minimal rooms, and she created a definite mood and story with her design. So important, as you know, and requiring great skill and intuition!

@rockygems123 , oh good, I hope you will post a picture.

@shoptilyadropagain , I agree with @Citrine1 , you're not in the least a Debbie Downer. I tend to have a fairly specific taste, that is not necessarily one that others on the Home board like.

A lot of the things I'm *most* enthusiastic about, other people here definitely don't like or are indifferent to. That's fine. There's room in design and all things "home" for a multitudes of tastes.

People do post rooms here at times that I don't care for, but they're interesting to see, and sometimes critique. I learn more about what I do like, sometimes, by seeing what I don't!

I appreciate your honest takes-- and you always have a good-natured, good-humored way of expressing yourself, which never comes off as anything other than a pleasant divergence of views. Would love to see some rooms you do like, if you ever feel like posting-- I gather that you are more of a modernist, but not sure...

I like that you say I highlight things you like....because I do think I'm a bit of an odd ball in a lot of my decorating loves.

I think I do notice and like things that not many people in my circle even notice or bother with. So good to hear that another person gets my likes! haha

As for the color of the kitchen cabinets in your post, you say they're similar to yours? Oh my, they are a special and gorgeous color.

I was wondering were they already that color when you moved in, did you paint them or order them new in that color?

I ask because when we renovated our kitchen a couple of years back I saw a newly done kitchen display in Home Depot of a Martha Stewart kitchen cabinet colabe in a similar light green color that I loved and had we not already ordered our cabinets I would've seriously considered those. I'm thinking if we ever have to redo a kitchen again I may do something in that color.

@GingerHead , oh, boy, I really like that Martha Stewart kitchen too ( and I'm not always a fan of hers) , but that dreamy green is a favorite, and reminiscent of ours. And beautiful with that floor they chose, and the marble counter tops.

The similar green in our kitchen ( "Van Alen Green") is on the walls, not the cabinets, so I'm sorry not to be able to tell you what it's like on our cabinets. I think I've bored people with this long story before, but since you and I like all the minutia of this stuff--

We partially re-did our vintage kitchen in our 1910 cottage a few years ago. The walls were mostly drywall, but with some pine beadboard on another wall too-- we painted the drywall and the beadboard green. The cabinets were plain pine, and we painted them in a neutral greige.

I had seen a pretty green in the old Victorian cottage of designer "Decorologist". Intriguingly, she used it as almost a neutral, in several rooms of the house--

Here it's on the wall of one of her rooms--

Here on the wainscoting and trim in another room--

It was "Prescott Green", a historical color by Benj. Moore. But in real life, it is slightly more saturated and intense than it looks here, interestingly So I went up just one shade lighter on the color swatch, which was "Van Alen Green". It was exactly right, and went on the walls of my kitchen.

(As an aside, the greige we had our cabinets painted is one that Maria Killam always talks about, Benj. Moore's "Baby Fawn". It is the creamiest, best greige I've ever found- a very nice balance between beige and gray, but "creamy" -- that's the only way I can describe it.)

I could easily love and live with it reversed-- green on the cabinets, like your sample kitchen, and a greige neutral on the walls. Love those colors together, and the kitchen is light and cheerful year round.

(But all is not sweetness and light. Our painters ignored the special instructions for using the heavy-duty cabinet paint, and the finish has not been all that durable, sob. A whole 'nother story...)

Here below is a popular kitchen from online, that has "Van Alen Green" on its cabinets and trim. But here it looks slightly more 'baby green' than it is in real life, I think!

Apologies if you've heard all this before.

So what color did you go with for your cabinets? Or did you go with natural wood?

I like and find appeal in the living room chairs, the dining room set, rug,and the dining set in the kitchen. I would add some decor, art work and color to the rooms.
