IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

I guess for many it will be jumping the gun. But, some do start around now, at least making a beginning. If you decorate for fall, now or later, what are your thoughts about what you will do?

A bountiful mantel or other horizontal surface?

Or just a little shot of nature, like this wheat in copper pots?

A little still life--

Or pouring on the warmth and color--

Love this table setting with autumnal fruits, plaid cloth, bright flowers, and those cool, "faux bois" plates. They're called "Ochre", and out of my usual color preference, but love them here!

This home-made garland, and simple hurricane with pods, is so sweet, love.

So if you are thinking, or already doing, 'fall'

would enjoy hearing about it.

@Oznell I love some of the decor. Love the cute homemade garland and the front yard of the cottage.

As for decorating, I wait until October. I add a few Halloween items but it's mostly autumn which carries me through to Thanksgiving weekend.

Nope. Pretty pics @Oznell I like the tablescape with the apples, particularly. I like subtle Fall, more than ORANGE PUMPKIN en masse! I like soft, fall hues more.

That said...no way, Jose'...it's summer still here in CT, until Sept. 22! My summer flowers still look nice. My summer decor is still inside, echoing the outside. And I live in a shoreline town...still beachy here. And I enjoy it 'til the bitter end, and want my home to reflect it.

When...things start to change outdoors, like 1st week of Oct...then I bring out some fall. I hate the rushing of any season. Even the ones I love....I let each run their course. That feels the best and the most right to me. But I read here all the time....everyone chomping at the bit in August to start Fall. It's just not me.

Not yet, but I have noticed a few neighbors changing out their front door wreaths. I might do that to lift my spirits, with the awful ongoing heat and drought, making me feel that fall is simply a figment of my imagination.

This morning I noticed the mist over the lake and leaves falling from the trees.

Some vine maple are starting to turn color too.

So, even though it is going to be 80 degrees here today, I think fall is on its way to the Seattle area.

I truly love summer ... but the transition to fall always feels so heart-warming. The fall leaves, the apple cider, the state fair.

@Oznell Lovely pics! I took down my summer things earlier this week, and I brought up my door wreath and a few other things. The mornings have been fall-like here of late, and the leaves are starting to fall due to the drought. So, I'm going with it.

Absolutely! All of my fall decor will go up on Tuesday, including a wreath for the front door. It may take a few days more to get around to doing the outside of my house, but the inside will be done for sure.

That first picture on this thread (the charming little house) has just beautiful outdoor decor. What a darling picture it makes.

I really like the "Ochre plates that match perfectly with the plaid tablecloth. I'm trying to figure out what the two small silver figures are (frogs?) I think they are holding either salt and pepper or spices? They look really sweet.

It's still hot here and I'm trying to draw out summer a bit longer.

I decorate Thanksgiving "light" usually with scented candles and a few pumpkins and Jim Shore Fall figurines. I will probably start decorating in another 2-3 weeks.

Christmas is a whole 'nother story

I am all decorated for Fall inside. This time of year I am just ready for a change no matter what the temperature is outside. I do the outside the day after Labor Day😊

Yes! This weekend I don't have any big plans for anything special, so I decided to start on my fall decorating. I took down all the spring/summer decor from my fireplace mantle, and started to replace with fall. It's almost complete except for the batteries I ordered from Amazon for the candles. I used everything I had on hand from a big box of Fall items from past years. I did, though, buy some pretty LED mirror glass pumpkins and gourd from Costco this year to add to the display. I'll post a picture when it's done.

I also took down the summer fabric shower curtain. I replaced it with a funny cat fabric shower curtain in darker fall colors that contrast nicely with my tan color bathroom.. The cats on the curtain remind me so much of my one cat who always manages to push the bathroom door open. My bathroom is a painted tan and the lettering on the shower curtain is tan, though in the stock picture posted, it looks gray. It came as a set with matching throw rug and a matching toilet lid cover. Here's the stock picture of the shower curtain.

Thank you for the lovely decor and ideas for all of us, perhaps. It's still too warm for decorating here right now. I will wait a few weeks, maybe until September sighs in relief of the cooler weather on the horizon, when the nurseries begin showing their pansies without them looping droopy. I will gasp a hint of relief if my hydrangeas did not die from heat. Though they look ghastly at this time. Happy October, I hope, ahead.

I can get ideas from your beauties and although I did set my breakfast table in Fall attire last weekend because my daughter was.

She said she was tired of my table looking like the beach, so we did make a little change. She dare not start in my dining room. She knows not to do that as I entertain guests for my time to host card players in our new season. I like for it to look fresh and new, even to me, then.

I have already started inside. Will wait a little bit longer for outside but I have the new orange floral cushions ready for porch chairs. Outside will also get wreaths and garland for the door. Mums and pumpkins in various colors and sizes won't be out for a couple more weeks as I change out the planters.

Inside will be heavy on autumnal colors with orange being the most prevalent. I have fall pillows for seating areas (pumpkin and needlepoint mushrooms) and various sizes, shades, and textures of orange flameless candles.

Lanterns will get fall plaid bows and possibly a fall pick. I have several Valerie twinkling pumpkins and gourds as well as other types of pumpkins and gourds. Glass vases will get filled with either faux pumpkins or those dried tiny pods that look like mini pumpkins but are something else.

Tables and sideboards (not all) will get different fall runners. Soap in bathrooms will be changed out for Bath and Body Works Sweet Cinnamon (or something like that). I have already started burning fall candles (Harvest-Yankee Candle and Cinnamon Cidar-Aromatique).

I have not pulled out all the picks and garlands that will go wherever I feel like putting them. I still have to pull out the fall sheets. I was hoping to find something new but what I have will be fine.

I am on the lookout for clear whisky colored vases I would like to use this year.
