Space bags certainly take up the least amount of space of all storage options. However, I haven't had good luck with them staying airtight over the long haul. I love them for travel when the only need to stay deflated for short periods of time.

I highly recommend Magic Bags, I got mine at Walmart. My daughter had to pack up her things for college storage and these truly are the only ones that haven't leaked. She washed her bedding and put them in a bag in May and they are still perfectly sealed. The original space bags were great but since then the market has been flooded with bad knockoffs that always leak.

One trick I"ve found that helps keep the bags from leaking is to tie a cord or ribbon around both sides of the bag, similar to the way you would wrap a gift. The ribbon's force takes some of the pressure off the seals.
