As the saying goes...life's too short, plus we dont entertain now like we used to. Using the china makes every meal a little special.

I gave my chine (originally my mother's) to my niece a few years ago. I used it a couple of times in the 30 years that I had it--don't miss it at all. It had to be hand-washed because of the gold trim, just too much of a pain.

I have Corelle dishes now, and they are all I use (unless I use paper plates).

No sadly I have my mom's as well as my own and though it's lovely I don't want the bother. No one in the family wants it or I would give it away. I rarely even use my Franciscan Apple pattern.I end up using my mom's everyday Pfaltzgraff plain white dishes, they go with everything. Once in a while I take out a cup and saucer of mom's fancy China and have a cup of tea , it tastes better and takes me back to better times with mom.

My one cousin somehow got my nana's china when I was still under 15. Not sure how that happened. My mother had a full set of Wilton armatele dishes. I hated the metal on metal with the flat ware. I have a few pieces of it (of course the platter @Carmie )

I don't have any fine China sets but I do have some wonderful serving pieces. I use Corelle daily, but I have several pieces of beautiful Polish Stoneware. (Maybe 10 pieces) A few Pfaltzcraft holiday pieces. I have one very old piece of old Portugual China, a vegatable dish with a lid, left to me from my sisters MIL. OMG, back in the day they entertained lavishly.

I could open a shop. A few very old tempation pieces, many used for serving. A few that crazed badly, I use as plant holders. But most of my temptation pieces are from 15 years ago, not any newer pieces. Except a few of the firework floral lace that crazed. We no longer entertain much, but that's ok. Just mostly family if anyone anymore.

I can't even imagine all the China around that the younger generation wants no part of. I know several people that mostly use paper plates daily. We may use an occcassional paper plate, but I'm using my pieces every day and they make me happy.

I have my mother's china. Getting a china set was a very big deal for her as she grew up very poor and she loved to entertain. I use it whenever friends or family are over. I can't bear to get rid of it. I don't use it for everyday because it's not microwaveable as it has a silver rim.

I had my bridal registry at Strawbrigde and Clothier and shortly after i picked out the items on my registry they stopped carrying my china pattern. Well I had a fit and complained all the way to the top until they relented and would honor orders of my china.

Lord knows why I did b/c I think I might have used my china once in the almost 29 years I have been married. There is just not any opportunites to use them. I have hosted Christmas at my house since my oldest DD was two but my father bought me a Christmas patterned stoneware service for 20 to use which I do every year.

I am also storing my mother's china in my basement. I was thinking of passing it on to one of my daughters but who knows if they will want it.
