Home Goods Store

Home Goods is no longer selling online -- only in store.

While it's not the end of the world, it's hard to understand limiting to only instore shopping.

I often see items sold at double and triple the price on Ebay. "Collectors" come in and buy popular items and resell them. Rae Dunn products used to be the target. Now it seems anything and everything is stripped from the shelves and resold. Annoying!

Yea, I know, life is unfair

But it get's on my nerves!

I've never bought anything from Home Goods, TJMaxx, or Marshalls online since I'd rather see their merchandise in person. For items sold on eBay how would it be know if items were originally bought in store or online?

The two Home Goods that I shop always seem to be well stocked with merchandise.

Many of the items I see on Ebay I have seen online or in the store on my occasional visits. On a few occasions, I was lucky enough to make a purchase.

Two examples...A Rae Dunn Bunny cookie jar that was $25 in store is priced at $120 on Ebay. Right now, Ebay has a Marie from Aristocats cookie jar for $70+ I just saw it in the store last week for $25.

The items I'm buying are not for me, but I do shop there to find unique items to be used in silent auction charity gift baskets for my local rescue. Obviously, the less I can pay for an item, the better.

Certain items seem to gain favor and then they are gone. People used to stalk Rae Dunn items then sell them elsewhere.

Like I said, life is unfair...but it is annoying. I'm an occasional shopper and don't care to camp out in the stores waiting for them to bring out inventory.

Like @Etoile308 , I like to see in-person the items Home Goods sells. We have 2 great stores close by so I enjoy browsing in their stores. Sometimes I find so many things (my daughter-in-law got 4 carts full since she is moving to Hawaii and needed new decor). Other times, I may walk out with nothing. I've actually never thought to order online from them since I find it more of a browse in-person type store.

I never shop at any of those stores in person or on-line. Not a fan of big box shopping in warehouse-type places.

Give me a good salesperson and I'm happy to get in and out with what I was looking for without having to search around by myself!

@jackthebear That's so true. When Valerie came out with the starry night hurricanes in 2022, people were buying them up and listing them on Ebay for $200 and up.

Home Goods charged very expensive S&H unless the total purchase was close to $100. I did look occasionally but I never bought anything online from them. There are several Home Goods stores in my area and if I want something I go there. I bought the cutest bunny hand towels in blue and pink the other day. The associate was just taking them out of the box and putting them on shelves and and she mentioned that they would be gone in an hour or 2. She said people buy them up and resell them. I mean how much could one make off selling hand towels?

@BirkiLady Have you been to a Home Goods? Ours is definitely not considered a big box store nor a warehouse style store. The store is very organized, not like Ross or Marshall's. Things are in categories and well displayed, well stocked, good quality and at better prices than other like stores.

@cjm61 Our Home Goods is also a small store. I got some beautiful and unusual Christmas tree things years ago. Also some great picture frames with different types of matting. They are hung all the way down the small hallway and everyone comments on the pictures and frames. ETA, It is certainly not a big box store.

Makes no sense to me why anyone would pay the high price on Ebay,as was listed on here.

The HG by me is definitely not warehouse or big box. It is a beautiful store that is very organized. I love browsing in HG and find some really good deals. I myself hate having a salesperson follow me around the store asking if they can help me. I know what I am looking for and like to take my time looking.

The Home Goods that was closest to my house was in the back of a Marshal's Store.

Home Goods looked like it was the last area to be stocked. Or they forgot to stock it at all. Since it wasn't a large area and hap haphazardly stocked, it was hard to find anything to buy. So I don't think I ever bought anything there.

The Marshal's/Home Goods store closed and moved farther away. Haven't been to the new store. But I wonder if Home Goods is even in the new store or if it is, how small the area is in the Marshal's store.

Indeed I have been in a Home Goods store once. It's near my neighborhood and is exactly like walking through a big box store (with very high shelves and l-o-n-g aisles) and no one in sight to help a customer.

I don't care how much might be saved in dollars and cents, my time is worth far more than that nonsense. I walked a few aisles. Wasn't impressed with anything, although it was clean and organized. Turned around and walked out to my car and have never considered going back.
