I have several pieces of hand painted china from my grandmother. When she passed away all the grandchildren received several plates and a tea cup and saucer. I just love them and have them on display.

It is beautifully done. The throw pillow makes a good complement to the colors in the plate. I know you will cherish your pieces forever.

I think every female in my mom's family handpainted china in the late 19th and early 20th Century. It must have been the "in" hobby for young ladies. They were darn good at it too. I sent a ton to it to my sister plus a service for 12 that some relatives had made when they were missionaries in the Philippines. It had a serving piece for every conceivable food.

I took classes for a couple years, but didn't have my own kiln. Lost interest after a while.

I have a plate that is very similar. I love these hand painted treasures of yesteryear. I have my collections of plates in my kitchen mounted above my cabinets on the wall. Your plate is beautiful.

Lovely! I have a few pieces of similar type of dishes--a creamer/suger bowl and a few teacups and plates--from my MIL--none of her daughters /grands wanted them--I took them tho!!
