MIDWESTERN GUY IS A HOUSE CLEANING ANGEL

"Midwest Magic Cleaning" is a youtube channel and business. But the proprietor also does free, whole-house cleaning for people needing help-- hard-working single mothers, disabled people, hoarders getting help with their syndrome. He's identified houses also that he categorizes as ADHD houses, where the people who live there have genuine obstacles to organizing their cleaning priorities.

An interesting sidelight is that he is autistic, and he connects that to this passion of his. He said he got into this because he likes cleaning ( ack ) and watched cleaning videos for fun. ( His wife is a woman most fortunate! But she was audibly power cleaning their deck in the background of one of his videos, so she keeps busy too... )

He's obviously bright, market savvy, and industrious, drew up a business model, and seems quite successful with his channel and business. But clearly his heart is in the painstaking, thorough cleaning jobs that he does for free, apparently with only one or two (or no) helpers. It's an act of love.

Finding out what Midwest Magic Cleaning does, was like getting an extra Christmas present. I love his attitude-- he's utterly respectful and professional when discussing clients and their cleaning predicaments. He's entertainingly witty and funny, about himself and the job, but never about the people he serves.

It's amazing how when you polish things up below, it gives you incentive to tackle the more daunting jobs. That's why one of his philosophical tenets is, when doing a chaotic bedroom, he makes the bed nicely first. (It also gives him a smooth platform for folding clothes and other tidying chores in the room.)

This little space had a forlorn, random quality before cleaning and tidying. Now it's ready for a rosy Christmas.

He says that often, the lack of storage requires that he can't put everything away that he would like to. But he believes that aligning things, producing right angles and straighter lines of random objects, is more pleasing and suggestive of order to the human eye. I love this guy!

He also has his pet, tried and true cleaners, like "Mr. Clean Clean Freak", among others, and an all-purpose cleaner he makes with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a few drops of Dawn.

I could post pictures forever, but the fun is really in the videos. If this is the kind of thing you like, Midwest Magic Cleaning is a refreshment for the mind.

Creating "home" by bringing order out of chaos for distracted, busy or overwhelmed people-- what could be more loving and helpful.

@Oznell Hi my friend, I haven't been here in awhile. Trying to gently go forward.

Fascinating that you shared this. I subscribe to Mack's channel. Have been watching him for awhile. He is a giver. He spends his own money for helping these people. In his latest videos he took the homeowner to the store and let her choose her paint and he did the painting and curtain hanging, etc. He's like no one else.

I found him a few months ago. He has a big heart and is definitely respectful of the houses he cleans regardless of the condition.

@Teddie , @Teddie -- I stopped in my tracks when I saw your name! Do you know how happy I am to see you back? Knew that you needed the extended time off, with the changes in your life, and am so glad you are here.

Hope and pray things have eased a bit for you, that it has gotten a little easier. Losses affect us in so many ways, don't they, @Teddie...

Do keep easing back, at whatever pace is good for you, and have a peaceful Christmas season, in case we don't see you till after.... but I hope we see you LOTS!

Wow, @luvzchiz , @Teddie , @aprilskies -- you are ahead of me in discovering him! We and the other people who are touched by his mission could form the nub of a fan club, judging by our reactions!

@Sooner , true, in one way, you could say that it's like seeing the sausage made. But, some, like me, like seeing the 'process', as well as the results. What motivates him is so inspiring, and then, he puts that into such positive action with great results. It's good, start to finish.

@Marsha2003 , I think that's a good question. My guess is that the videos, are, for him, a way of "modeling" future cleaning behavior for the clients, the way to tackle seemingly daunting household tasks. Especially before they become monumental.

Many of them, sadly, have not had exposure to ways of taking care of things, and are at a loss as how to begin.

I do think he's taking an "educating" role with them, to at least some degree. He explains things so carefully, and in practical detail. And then, the fact that he took one to the store, involving her in paint selection, etc. seems to clinch that.

He indicates awareness that depression, physical inability, distraction, even cognitive problems, as well as economic circumstances, can be obstacles, and he's trying to teach ways to push through some of that in their management of their home environment.

So well put, as always, @SandySparkles !

Dear @Oznell You are so very kind, as are others here. This isn't the place to talk about myself, but I don't know where to go. I see some others said some sweet things on another of your threads but it's been over a year and I don't know how to include them. @minkbunny was one and I know she lost her husband many years ago too. She was blessed with another marriage but I'm sure she never forgot what she went through. Wanted to remember you too, dear minkbunny.

I'm having a very difficult time. It's getting harder, not easier. I feel like I'm often on the verge of tears or crying. I had to go into town Wednesday to take care of some things plus get groceries. I cried all the way in. It's a combination of the stress of going in and remembering doing everything with my husband and listening to music that really brings it out. I had to meet with someone and kept crying in her office. I was thankful I had my daughter with me but it still comes down to every single thing in my life has been affected--and there's no changing that. The pain of losing him and the trauma that surrounded that time is something I will never get over. I have prayed: "Lord, I don't understand any of this but if you had to take ( my husband), then I'm really going to need you to help me get through this." There have been many ways in which I felt He has helped me. I almost had someone run head on into me coming home. I had the right of way. I thanked Him for keeping me safe but it scared me. But you are so right about grief. There's no way to describe it.

There's so much I could say. My dearest thoughts and wishes to you during this special season. ♥️

Of course it's a place to talk about yourself, @Teddie , if you want to. I am so very sorry that the sharp pain has not abated, and is worse at times. Very glad that you are here, and you will always find posters eager to listen, including me.

You have a support system, clearly, in your faith, and in your daughter, and of course, others in your life. But I'm wondering if you have other supports, where you can unburden yourself fully in a secure, confidential situation. If a support group or individual counseling are not in place for you now, would you consider them?

If you are already engaged in that way, I'd encourage you to let them know the extent of your grief, and avail yourself fully of what they have to offer. If that isn't adequate, there are other options for you. If that seems like too much to deal with, I'm sure your daughter would help you find more of what's out there-- counseling is a lifeline for anyone suffering pain.

There is a widow's thread in the "Among Friends" forum, and although it looks like it hasn't been used recently, I believe it was one of those long-established, ongoing threads. I will post there, so it's easy for you to find.

The important thing, @Teddie , is to unburden yourself of at least a little of all you are enduring right now. So hope you'll meet me, and whoever else posts over there, whenever you want to. More later, friend.
