LOUISIANA HOUSE

Cindy St. Romain is an interior designer and antiques dealer, who has a unique advantage. She spent part of her childhood as an expatriate in Italy, and she seems to bring an exciting European zest to her interiors.

That style seems perfect for this sprawling, Mediterranean-influenced Louisiana house.

Love the beautiful carved cabinet, the old metal tub of tulips, and that swirl of a crystal lamp.

In her portfolio, this is described as the "Roseland" house, so am assuming it's in Roseland, Louisiana, not far from New Orleans or Madisonville, LA where Cindy has her headquarters.

Stone and wood together are always great, then when you add a barrel vaulted brick ceiling-- swoon. You could be in a remote Spanish monastery or something!

Cozy corner for chess playing...

The family room looks comfortable and welcoming-- I just personally do not care for TV's over the fireplace-- would have to find a better place...

Love a powder room with a bit of drama, and vintage sconces--

This must be the more formal living room...

The distressed rose velvet of the couches looks so comfy-

I'd love to know the story of this wonderful piece:

This library is inviting, with the fire going, the dreamy painting, books and huge antique gilt candlesticks...

....and speaking of gilt candlesticks.... The owners must be avid collectors of them. I fully expect to be the only one here who likes them-- I love a forest of well-loved antique objects on a big dining table! The forest green velvet chairs are sumptuous...

Each vintage candlestick must have such a story. Also love the painting and elegant X cabinet...

I like the cozy little vignettes throughout the house, like this worn settee, ready to flop into--

This dressing table, below, must be in a bedroom. Its lacquer finish and fluted, rounded lines make me think of Thirties or Forties furniture, maybe French?? Love the way she effortlessly mixes periods.

Nice open air pavilion--

It's neat that the creamy stone out here, is consistent with all the stone used throughout this house.

Love it all except for the large vases?, urns?, whatever the are in the bathroom and the candlesticks on the dining room table.

Not for me. Dislike all the gold, and dislike the style of furniture. The only thing that appeals to me is the dressing table which feels like the art deco style. Also too much "stuff."

I think this is so beautiful! I love all of the soothing colors with the dramatic touches! I want those big candlesticks. I think the rugs are great and the peaches and blues in the furniture.

@Oznell I love the painting and rug in the first photo. I absolutely hate some of the light fixtures and those gold framed mirrors are a horror, can't stand them.

Many of the pieces are quite pretty but overall not my taste.

There is so much for me to love ! The furniture is beautiful, the couches and chairs elegant. I of course admire all the art work on the walls, lovely candlesticks, lamps, all the decor and its placement. I too am not a fan of the placement of the TV. All in all very appealing in all ways.

Love this house - lots of stone which I also have inside and outside at my house. Love most everything in this house. The furnishings especially the pink and white chair and the powder room sink. The green velvet chairs, the dressing table and striped chair, the chandeliers. I woud also name it Roseland as roses are my favorite flower. i would even move to Roseland LA to live in it.

And @Oznell I woud even give you the candlesticks you love.

This architectural details of this home are beautiful but I'm not in love with how the interior designer furnished the home. There are a few pieces here and there that I like but overall there's too much ornate gold for me. I also cringed at the chairs at each dining room/kitchen table.

@Oznell this is one of my favorite postings of yours.

I was fortunate to travel for many years when I was working. New Orleans was my favorite spot; I fell in love with it, and the charming people.

The stonework is amazing. I could drink it in for hours.

I love all the chandeliers in the home! And yes, I like the candles.

The secretary is stunning...

The pavilion is comfortable, inviting luxury.

The only misstep is the TV!!! But no one's perfect

I purchased these candle sticks from Valerie about a month ago. The style of these candle sticks is similar to those shown in some of the pictures.... nice and oversized!

I absolutely love the outdoor pavilion area! That's my favorite space. I also like the library with built-ins. The small wooden cabinet and the larger hutch/desk are nice in other rooms.

I don't like the mix of colors in the family room, the style of furniture in the living room, and the gold accessories.

Love the home, itself. The rock, wood, beams and all the organic features, including the outside space, where I could linger for a while.

While I would keep some of the furnishings, much leans too formal for my taste. Far too much gold for me.

But it's a wonderful combination of organic features, mixed with those more luxurious. It's beautifully done.

@Oznell I love this house with all the stone , wood and brick

features. The furnishings, colors and decor are beautiful. I do love antiques.

Like you, I do not like a TV above the fireplace in a family room, it doesn't bother me so much in the outdoor space.

One piece of furniture that I do not care for is the coffee table in

the living room. It looks a little too modern for the furnishings in the room.
