This really struck me, and I have a weakness for libraries. Interior designer Doniphan Moore renovated this Vero Beach, Florida house for his own family.

He said that the vaguely Georgian, single story design gave him his clues for the interiors. The house is oriented to the outdoors, surrounded by live oaks, as well as palms.

This library seems so dreamy to me. The lacquered walls are in soft "Blue Ground" by Farrow and Ball. I like the way they interact with all the natural light coming in.

The west-facing library opens onto their patio, as well as a golf course, and he says the family likes to gather here at sunset. Love the rug, Palladian-type French doors, the malachite-painted table, the bar cart, and Art Deco accents in chairs, lamps and stool.

Enlarging this really brings up the details.

The library adjoins, and is really an extension of the larger living room. This is less dramatic, more subdued, but still has hints of that cool, laid-back, 'old Palm Beach' vibe. Those couches look to have serious 'sinkability' comfort. Grab a book from the adjacent library, and throw down!

I have always loved library rooms and this one is lovely! The blue color is serene and fitting for a room to relax and read in.. I think the chairs are so pretty and comfortable looking, love the design also. The French doors are stunning . I like the living room , so spacious and room for many people to sit in and have conversations. The only downside of the house for me is the view of a golf course, not something I would want to view.

I like the yellow exterior and greenery of this home. I love the architectural details, especially the doors, windows, and built-ins.

I'm not crazy about lacquer walls or using similar colors in both furnishings and walls. I'd prefer a neutral wall color in an eggshell finish.

Love having a place for books in a home. We use our smallest bedroom as a reading room. It's not fancy, but we have 3 bookshelves and 2 very comfortable recliners in the room.

Like the home's elegantly pretty exterior, though it's a bit more formal than I'd personally choose. The library is a very nice looking room, if not precisely to my taste. I like it, but the rug and that woven stool both need to go. For me, a golf course as a neighbor would be a big no-go, thank you very much!

The exterior of the home is absolutely beautiful. The library is very pretty to look at but I just find the light blue an odd choice for that kind of room. I'm also not feeling the lacquer. I like the furnishings for the most part.

The living room could use some color on the walls or ceilings to balance it out. The eye is drawn to the floor level and stays there. The furnishings are nice except the two chairs by the fireplace are really odd, IMHO.

That said, I've never been a big fan of long stretches of lawns or grass, so I'd prefer to sit next to a wooded area or copse of trees. I know some courses feature diverse landscaping but overall, I'd tend to choose a different venue.

The exterior of this house nestled among lots of greenery is lovely and one of my favorite styles.

Now about the interior...I have well documented that I am not a "blue" person. So while the library has beautiful architectural detail, I would opt for a different color for the walls. I actually rather like the blue chairs,

I find the wall color choice of the living room (which reads a very light blue on my screen) to be much more appealing and I like the arches. I find the furniture odd though. I am a lover of neutral furnishings, but every piece is an odd color and reminds me of a bale of hay.😅 Also, the placement looks like it is set up for an AA meeting. Can you tell I am not fond of a "circle" arrangement?

And then the actual style of the pieces would not work for me, I want my guests to be comfortable. I made the mistake once of having two armless slipper? chairs in my living room. They proved to be difficult for some of my older relatives to get up from. The sofas appear to have such deep cushions if guests scooted back their feet would be dangling off the floor. I can hear them saying "let's go out to the library and sit in the comfy blue chairs".

The living room walls of this Vero Beach house looked white to me until I enlarged the photo and saw that the ceiling was white and the walls then looked light blue in comparison.

I was curious about the foreground table in the living room with its cloth-and-rope look that was constructed of hard material. So I went down a rabbit hole and learned that the rope table design is by interior designer John Dickinson (1920-1982). Some of his originals were done in plaster. Don't know if the table in this Vero beach house is an original or not. One article had this interesting and fun tidbit about the plaster furniture: "Dickinson loved the plaster's weight--it forced clients to quit rearranging his furniture."

Another article on Dickinson quotes Dickinson as saying "What I do is always mine. I want my work to be instantly recognizable. I think this idea that everyone pays lip service to, that a room should reflect the client more than the decorator, is utter nonsense. Clients come to you for a look. It can be tempered and diluted or softened, but my rooms always end up looking like me. There's no way I can avoid that, and I don't want to." I would guess that not all designers and clients (and design/decor armchair enthusiasts) share Dickinson's viewpoint that a room should reflect the decorator more than the client.

I've always relished golf courses, the green, the gentle hills and mirror-like ponds, even the occasional ball looping into the sky. Find them to be very calming to contemplate, so living by one would be fun for me.

Fascinating info about Dickinson, @QVCisFun . I didn't realize that stool/table was one of his. The only one of his designs that I consistently recognize is his trademark white plaster table he did with the quirky legs-- a lot of other designers have used it in their work.

Don't really care for it, but he was talented. And sounds like a character!
